The New York Yankees are coming off a dominant three-game sweep over the Baltimore Orioles.
Now, with a quick turnaround, they’re back in action Friday night at home in the Bronx for a weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays, who they faced just a week ago in Toronto for a three-game set.
Ahead of the matchup, Yankees manager Aaron Boone made some notable lineup decisions, one of which involves star infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr.
Yankees Announce Chisholm Jr. Decision
After appearing in Thursday night’s game and recording an RBI triple in the top of the eighth inning, Chisholm Jr. will not start Friday’s series opener.
The infield will otherwise consist of Amed Rosario at third base, George Lombard Jr. at shortstop, and Jose Caballero at season.

Chisholm Jr.’s 2026 Campaign
It’s been a challenging year for the two-time All-Star at the plate in a contract year.
He enters the weekend series batting just .216 across 412 at-bats. Chisholm Jr. has recorded 58 runs, 89 hits, 17 home runs, and 49 RBIs. He’s also stolen an impressive 33 bases, which ranks among the most in MLB.
Outside of his rookie season, when he appeared in just 21 games during the shortened COVID-19 season, Chisholm Jr. is on pace to set career lows in batting average, slugging percentage (.388), and OPS (.684).
