The New York Yankees are thought to need another right-handed hitter to help balance out the current lineup, which, aside from Aaron Judge, features a lot of left-handed hitters (Cody Bellinger, Jazz Chisholm Jr, Ben Rice, Austin Wells, Trent Grisham, and Ryan McMahon).
While time is dwindling out on MLB free agency, there is still time before spring training, or even during, for the Yankees to make an impactful signing. The New York Post’s Joel Sherman outlined in a recent post what he’s hearing about the Yankees pursut of a right-handed hitter.

Yankees Being Linked to Miguel Andujar
According to Sherman’s reporting, the New York Yankees ‘decision makers’ (front office) love the services of infielder Miguel Andujar.
This shouldn’t come to much surprise as Andujar spent the first six years of his MLB career with the Yankees (2017-2022).
The 30-year-old third baseman/ left fielder hit .318 with both the Athletics and Cincinnati Reds in 2025 over 94 games.

During his six-year stint with the Yankees, Andujar hit 35 home runs in 259 games with a .273 average in pinstripes and a slightly above-average OPS+ (106).
Miguel Andujar isn’t exactly known for his production with the bat, but rather for being a good role player and potential platoon option. The Yankees wouldn’t even really need him to be a prominent role in the lineup, but a bat like Andujar can help with the balance in the lineup, and it gives manager Aaron Boone another option as either a pinch hitter or another righty bat for when the Yanks oppose a southpaw starter.

Should the Yankees Target Miguel Andujar?
Many Yankees fans may be wishing for a free agent with a little bit more pop from the right side (Paul Goldschmidt, Rhys Hoskins), but Andujar would be a good value add that wouldn’t cost the Yankees any more than a couple of million.
The Yankees are still awaiting the free agency decision of Paul Goldschmidt, who has indicated he would like to still be playing baseball in 2026, but there’s no real word on what the traction is if he will return to New York.
However, the Yankees’ need for a right-handed bat will remain until the season begins. It’s been a fairly slow offseason for the Yankees, who have missed out on several free agents, but as the calendar turns to February, now might be the perfect time for Brian Cashman to make a big splash.
