Giants Star Sounds Off on Dodgers’ Active Offseason

Logan Webb commented on the busy offseason the Los Angeles Dodgers are having.

Coming off back-to-back World Series wins, the Los Angeles Dodgers aren’t exactly standing pat. Since winning their second straight World Series, the Dodgers have added slugger Kyle Tucker and closer Edwin Díaz. That activity hasn’t gone unnoticed by their northern rivals, the San Francisco Giants.

While at a FanFest event, Logan Webb, a two-time All-Star and San Francisco’s No. 1 starting pitcher, discussed the moves that Los Angeles has made.

Logan Webb is Not Happy to See What the Los Angeles Dodgers Have Done

The Dodgers are already a strong team. With their World Series win over the Toronto Blue Jays, they became the first team since the 1998-2000 New York Yankees to win consecutive championships. They’ve also won all but one National League West title since 2013 (and even the one outlier came in a 106-win season) and have won the season series from the Giants in each of the last four years, going 9-4 in both 2024 and 2025.

Noting all of that, Webb didn’t try to hide his displeasure at seeing how active the Dodgers have been.

“It’s not my job to add guys or do anything,” Webb said, per Tristi Rodriguez, NBC Sports Bay Area. “It’s our job to just go out there and try to compete. Obviously, yeah, it’s not fun for me to watch the team that won it and the team that kicked our ass a lot last year go out and get some really good players just to make it more difficult. “But at the end of the day, you just got to play better and be better. Hopefully we do that.”

San Francisco hasn’t reached the postseason since winning 107 games en route to a National League West title in 2021. And while they’ve been well behind the Dodgers since then, they’ve generally fielded competitive teams since. San Francisco has hovered around .500 in each of the last four years, going 81-81 in 2022, 79-83 in 2023, 80-82 in 2024 and 81-81 in 2025.

But while the Giants are seemingly not far from being at least a Wild Card team, they haven’t done much in the offseason, which might add to Webb’s feelings of frustration.

It’s Been a Quiet Offseason For the San Francisco Giants

While the Giants have often been linked to top free agents, none have come to San Francisco. In addition to Tucker going to the Dodgers, Cody Bellinger went to the Yankees while Pete Alonso signed with the Baltimore Orioles. The Giants, meanwhile, signed starting pitchers Adrian Houser and Tyler Mahle, who will likely round out the back end of the starting rotation.

Still, while it’s been hinted that the Giants might not make a big move, they’ve been linked to others. It’s been predicted that San Francisco will solidify the second base position in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals for Brendan Donovan.

Free agent pitcher Framber Valdez has also been consistently linked to the Giants (among other teams) through the offseason. Chris Landers of Fansided noted the fit when discussing where Valdez might end up.

“San Francisco has been curiously quiet this offseason for a team that we know is desperate to get back to October, and Buster Posey can’t afford not to find a reliable third option behind Logan Webb and Robbie Ray,” Landers said. “Plus, having arguably the best defensive infield in baseball will only help ease his transition.”

Webb is right. If the Giants want to improve and become a playoff team, they need to play better. That said, there’s only so much the current players can do. To make that leap, San Francisco might need the front office to come through with one or two more moves before Opening Day.
