Tomorrow is Opening Day in Seattle, and excitement is building across the region. However, for fans who can’t make it to the ballpark in person, there are still plenty of questions about how to watch the game. Especially considering ROOT Sports Northwest is no longer in operation. The switch to new viewing options has created some confusion, particularly for those who rely on cable or satellite packages.

Major League Baseball has introduced a new direct-to-consumer streaming service, Mariners.TV. It aims to give fans easier access to games. Still, details around viewing methods remained somewhat unclear, until today.

With first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m., many fans are looking for reliable ways to tune in. Not just for Opening Day, but for the entire season.

Seattle Mariners In-Market Streaming

Fans located within the Mariners’ home broadcast territory, including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, Montana, Hawaii, and parts of western Canada such as British Columbia and Alberta, will be able to stream games through Mariners.TV. This service offers a full-season package priced at $99.99. It also offers a monthly option for $19.99 pre month. For many local fans, this will likely be the most straightforward way to watch games moving forward.

For those living outside the Pacific Northwest, MLB.TV remains the primary option. Priced at $149.99 per season, it allows out-of-market viewers to watch Mariners games throughout the year. However, blackout restrictions may still apply depending on location. This is something fans should keep in mind when choosing a subscription.

Cable Providers

Where things were less certain lied with traditional cable and live TV streaming services. Providers such as Comcast, DirecTV, Fubo, Spectrum, Xfinity, and YouTube TV had not confirmed whether Mariners.TV would be included in their channel lineups. This lack of clarity  led to understandable frustration among fans who typically just turn on their TV to watch.

However, this afternoon, the Mariners offered an update on viewing.

Comcast/Xfinity: Channel 1261

Charter/Spectrum in Seattle and Tacoma Market: 414

Other providers to be announced soon with full channel finder available tomorrow morning at Mariners.com/watch

MLB had offered limited guidance up until now, stating that they will announce specific channel locations closer to the start of the season. Fortunately, with Opening Day near, that information is coming to light.

Some reports suggest that fans without news may simply need to wait until game time approaches to see how other providers handle the broadcast. While not ideal, it’s possible that more concrete details will emerge at the last minute.

Other Viewing News

There is some encouraging news. MLB has indicated that in-market subscribers to Mariners.TV will be able to stream all local broadcasts without blackout restrictions. This would mark a significant improvement over past limitations.

According to Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times, a similar situation unfolded last season with the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres. During which, they resolved any uncertainty with last-minute updates on Opening Day. That gives reason to believe MLB will address any remaining issues before first pitch.

In the meantime, fans looking for different viewing experiences can consider alternative options. Local sports bars are expected to carry the game, providing a reliable way to watch. Additionally, those attending in person at T-Mobile Park can look forward to special Opening Day giveaways, including 2026 season schedule magnets.

While the adjustment to new viewing options hasn’t been smooth, it is promising that fans will be able to catch every moment of the Mariners’ season starting with the highly anticipated first pitch tomorrow night.
