
Exactly a week ago, Toronto Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. suffered an injury against the New York Yankees and landed on the seven-day concussion IL.
Now, ahead of the Blue Jays’ weekend series against the Yankees in the Bronx, Toronto has revealed a major update on Guerrero Jr.’s status after he made a rehab appearance Thursday night.

It seems everything over the last week has gone as planned, and Blue Jays manager John Schneider revealed that Guerrero Jr. has fully cleared his final concussion tests and is ready to return to action.
The expectation is that Toronto will activate him Saturday, allowing him to play in the final two games of the series.
“Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is with the Blue Jays in New York after going 1-for-1 with a double and two walks in a rehab game with Dunedin yesterday,” Arden Zwelling of Blue Jays on Sportsnet reported.
“He’s passed all his concussion tests, per Blue Jays manager John Schneider, and is on track to be activated from IL on Saturday.”

Guerrero Jr.’s 2026 Season
In his eighth MLB season, Guerrero Jr. has experienced a down year in terms of power. He hasn’t hit a home run at his home ballpark in Toronto in more than a year. However, he still earned his sixth consecutive All-Star selection.
The 27-year-old is currently batting .263 across 115 games and 430 at-bats, with 61 runs, 113 hits, seven home runs, and 46 RBIs. He’s also slugging .356 with a .693 OPS.
