Denny Hamlin etched his name into the record books when he drove his No. 11 Toyota Camry to victory in the Enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway (Gateway).

The win wasn’t just another career milestone for Denny Hamlin; it was Toyota’s 200th NASCAR Cup Series victory, a historic moment in the manufacturer’s 18-year journey in the sport.

For Hamlin, the Gateway triumph marked his 59th career NASCAR Cup Series win and his fifth victory of the 2025 season.

More importantly, the win secured his advancement into the second round of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, strengthening his case as one of the championship favorites.

Toyota’s NASCAR Legacy Reaches 200 Wins

Toyota entered NASCAR’s top level in 2007, and in less than two decades, the brand has become a dominant force. From its early days with Michael Waltrip Racing and Red Bull Racing to powerhouse partnerships with Joe Gibbs Racing and 23XI Racing, Toyota has consistently grown stronger on the track.

Tyler Gibbs, president of Toyota Racing Development (TRD), credited the milestone to years of dedication and teamwork across organizations.

“It’s a testament to what’s gone in over the last 19 years,” Gibbs said. “The team we have at TRD, the team we have at TMNA (Toyota Motor North America), the team we have on the track. When you look at JGR, 23XI, Furniture Row, Red Bull, and Michael Waltrip Racing combining for over 200 wins is just incredible for us.”

This victory not only underscored Toyota’s resilience in motorsports but also reinforced its position as a manufacturer that builds for both speed and long-term success.

Denny Hamlin Seals the Win with Bold Move

The Enjoy Illinois 300 was far from a cruise for Denny Hamlin. With a late restart on the 1.25-mile Gateway oval, he executed a daring three-wide pass to grab the lead and never looked back.

His teammate Chase Briscoe crossed the line in second, giving Joe Gibbs Racing a 1-2 finish, a fitting result for Toyota’s milestone race.

For Denny Hamlin, who also co-owns 23XI Racing, the achievement carried extra meaning.

“It’s super special because they’ve been such a big partner of Joe Gibbs Racing for such a long time,” Hamlin said. “I was worried when we switched over 17 years ago from Chevy to Toyota, but it turned out to be the best partnership we could’ve imagined. Now that I’ve got 23XI, I’ve formed a different relationship with them. I’ve got Toyota running through my blood.”

What’s Next for Hamlin and Toyota

With five wins already in 2025, Denny Hamlin has momentum on his side as the playoffs intensify. He knows each future victory carries weight not just for his personal legacy but for Toyota’s ongoing dominance in NASCAR.

“The next few wins, knock on wood, if I can get some, are gonna be very, very special to me. So this is the next step to getting that done,” Hamlin added.

As Denny Hamlin chases his first Cup championship, Toyota celebrates its 200th win, a reminder that its bold entry into NASCAR in 2007 has more than paid off. And at Gateway, both Hamlin and Toyota proved they’re still just getting started.
