Jesse Love’s visible frustration showed after a dominant run fell short at Phoenix Raceway. The defending NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series champion, clearly disappointed, led most of the GOVX 200 but finished second to Justin Allgaier after a tense late-race duel.

Love led 114 laps and won Stage 2 of the 200-lap race. His car was fast all night, and he controlled the field for long stretches, but as his car tightened in the final stage and his pace slowed, Love’s growing frustration was apparent while Allgaier closed in. After a restart with 15 laps left, Allgaier made the decisive move and won.

Jesse Love Explains Where the Race Slipped Away

In a post-race interview on The CW broadcast, Love pinpointed the moment things began to change. When asked where the win slipped away, not just on the last restart but over the course of the race, he spoke directly about the issue that developed in the final stage.

“I don’t know. I think the only real misstep we really had was just tightening up there, beginning of stage three, and kind of put us behind. And I don’t know what his entire life was like. But yeah, just frustrated.”

The tightening early in Stage 3 hurt the car’s balance. Love had controlled the race, but the handling change slowed his pace.

Reflecting on his performance, Love later addressed the emotional impact of finishing second after leading most of the race. He seemed disappointed with the outcome, and his responses revealed how tough it was to process losing after feeling victory was in reach.

“Yeah, if I show up to run second and just collect points, but obviously not why I’m here. And yeah, I’m just beyond frustrated with myself. And yeah, I just don’t know what to say. I’m just upset with myself.”

These comments captured his frustration after losing a tightly contested race.

Jesse Love leads 114 laps in dominant Phoenix performance

Before the final stage, Love delivered one of the strongest performances. He took the lead early and controlled the opening stages.

His No. 2 Chevrolet had a strong pace on long runs and restarts, leading 114 laps, the most of any driver.

Phoenix Raceway has been good for Love. Saturday’s strong showing continued his record. Love maintained a top-average position and ran near the front throughout.

Despite the strong pace, the handling change in Stage 3 cost him the lead late.

Justin Allgaier Rallies Late to Win GOVX 200 at Phoenix Raceway

Justin Allgaier pulled off an impressive comeback to win the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Phoenix Raceway.

Allgaier overcame a slow pit stop earlier in the race that dropped him back. He only led the final 11 laps (out of 200 total), but made a decisive pass on Jesse Love.

Justin Allgaier praised his team after the victory, crediting crew chief Andrew Overstreet and the No. 7 crew for overcoming an early pit stop issue. Speaking in Victory Lane on The CW, Allgaier said the team stayed confident despite setbacks.

“[I’m] Just so proud of this team. Andrew Overstreet has done a great job taking over [as a crew chief]. He’s been telling me all week this is our house, and we’re going to go take it. It wasn’t for lack of adversity. It seems like those are the ones that are great for us. Really proud of this team, everybody on this No. 7 team. We had an issue at that first pit stop, and these boys rebounded and did a great job. It never gets old winning.”
