NASCAR cup Series driver Bubba Wallace, during a media session, discussed his practice and qualifying runs and responded to comments about teammate Tyler Reddick.

Wallace explained how track position and group placement affected his session. He also outlined how the team adjusted its goals after the previous race. The discussion came as drivers prepared for the NASCAR Cup Series short track event.

Wallace stayed focused on performance while also addressing Reddick’s record at Martinsville. The session showed both the competitive side of the team and the working relationship between the two drivers heading into race weekend.

Bubba Wallace Reviews Practice and Qualifying

Wallace described the session as steady but not perfect, noting that track conditions improved as more cars ran laps.

“Yeah, it’s a bit unfortunate. We’re kind of dealing with the consequences of last week, being in Group 1. The track just keeps getting better as more cars get out there for qualifying.

All in all, I think we beat our metric, which is what we wanted. After Arlington, we adjusted our goals, and we hit them. That’s a positive. Of course, we wanted more.”

“I thought we unloaded strong, right where we needed to be. We had the fastest lap in practice, which is good. Our averages were okay. It kind of reminds me of the fall race, though. We were fast in practice, qualified in the 20s, and stayed there all day.”

“So we’ve got some work to do tomorrow, but I’m looking forward to it.”

Wallace said the team met its targets after adjusting plans earlier in the week. He pointed out that strong practice speed did not fully carry into qualifying, which has happened before at Martinsville Speedway.

NASCAR Cup Series: Wallace Reacts to Tyler Reddick’s Martinsville Speedway Outlook

Wallace also responded to a comment about Reddick’s chances in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville. He kept the tone light while explaining how both drivers perform on different track types.

“If I win here, the world ends? I’d say, ‘Damn, dog.’ I think Tyler struggles on short tracks for whatever reason, and I struggle on road courses. We kind of ‘ham and egg it,’ like in golf. One of us picks up where the other one is off.”

“Our cars are fast. It’s just about putting it all together. I think he finished eighth or ninth, so he’s got some work to do. But if he wins on Sunday, the world might end. For sure.”

Wallace explained that both drivers face different challenges depending on the track. He said their combined strengths help the team stay competitive in the NASCAR Cup Series schedule.

23XI Racing Prepares for the Cook Out 400

The comments showed how Wallace and Reddick approach race weekends as teammates. Wallace focused on execution and consistency while recognizing areas that need improvement.

Both drivers enter the Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway with competitive cars based on practice speeds. Wallace confirmed that the pace is there, but stressed that results depend on putting together a complete race.

As the NASCAR Cup Series heads into the short track race, Wallace said the team has speed but must turn that pace into results on race day.
