Tyler Reddick delivered another strong result in the NASCAR Cup Series, winning Sunday’s AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway after a late overtime restart. The 23XI Racing driver held off Kyle Larson in the closing laps to secure his fifth victory of the 2026 season.
Reddick started from the pole and remained near the front throughout the 267-lap race. Late cautions reset the field and forced a green-white-checkered finish. That moment decided the outcome, with Reddick making the key move when it mattered most. While the win added to his strong start in the NASCAR Cup Series, attention quickly turned to Michael Jordan and what he said after watching the race unfold.
Michael Jordan reacts to late-race NASCAR Cup Series battle at Kansas Speedway
Jordan focused on the competition and the final laps when he spoke after the race. He clarified that competing with Denny Hamlin enhanced the significance of the moment.
“I’m racing against Denny, so I really wanted to beat him because I know we’re going to talk some trash later. It was a good race. When we started to run out of fuel, I didn’t know what was happening.”
Fuel concerns created uncertainty in the closing stages of the NASCAR Cup Series race. Teams had to manage their runs carefully as the race moved into overtime. The restart placed Reddick and Larson side by side, and the lead changed quickly after the green flag.
Jordan also pointed to the wider effort across 23XI Racing.
“But all the 23XI guys drove well today. I think we finished all four cars in the top 15, and that says a lot about the program.”
That result showed consistency across the team. Both entries remained competitive through long runs and restarts, helping secure strong finishing positions.
Tyler Reddick extends strong NASCAR Cup Series start
Reddick controlled key parts of the race from the front. He led early after winning the pole and stayed in contention through both stages. Hamlin won Stage 1, while Larson led much of Stage 2. Late cautions changed the order and set up the final restart.
On the overtime restart, Reddick made a clean move to clear Larson and take control. He held the lead through the final laps and crossed the line first. Larson finished second, followed by Chase Briscoe in third. Hamlin placed fourth, and Bubba Wallace completed the top five.
The result marked Reddick’s second career win at Kansas and his 13th in the series. It also added to his early-season run, which includes five wins in the first nine races in the NASCAR Cup Series. That pace has placed him at the top of the standings as the season moves forward.
Michael Jordan Praises Reddick and the Team’s Performance
Jordan ended his comments by focusing on Reddick’s form and the team’s effort in the final laps.
“This kid is on fire. I don’t even know what to say. I don’t know if I can cool him down. He’s unbelievable. Those last couple of laps were unbelievable, and I’m proud of him. I’m proud of the whole team.”
The closing laps at Kansas required control and quick decisions. Reddick executed both under pressure. His performance in overtime secured the win and added to his consistent results this season in the NASCAR Cup Series.
The race also showed 23XI Racing’s progress. With multiple cars finishing near the front and strong execution in key moments, the team delivered another complete performance.
