Scouting happens at all levels of basketball. With the game being more offensive-oriented than ever before, scoring records are being shattered left and right. The beauty of Adam Sandler’s Hustle, which came out in 22, is exactly that.
Talent can come from anywhere in the world, in this global game.
Another great example of that, is of Armenia A League Division guard Daniel Kirakosyan. Many in the USA may not have known the name, but by the time they read this piece, they will.
Just 20 years of age, he only recently started playing in this division three games ago. And in his third game, he not only shattered the scoring record, but put up a never-before-seen stat-line to go along with it.
We might be looking at a future NBA 1st-round pick right here. More to come.
Daniel Kirakosyan Lights The World on Fire with Electric Performance
Get ready to learn Daniel Kirakosyan, buddy. The 20-year-old, who will celebrate his 21st birthday next Sunday, dropped a whopping 84 points to lead his team to a victory over the US Titans. In all, his team scored 160, a final of 160-102 from the contest.
In addition to that, he grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out 10 assists. Few players have ever been able to amass a performance with contributions to over 100 points, whether between just scoring or points and assists. This was a game for the ages. Only one NBA player has scored that high in history, and his name is Wilt Chamberlain.
Admittedly, it’s been tricky to find current highlights of the young man. But, footage of him playing for the U20 team in Armenia from two summers ago should suffice in showing what he is capable of. This is a player that can do it all, and fill it up like it’s nobody’s business.
Kirakosyan only joined the his new club, BC Urartu, a week ago. He has averaged better than 53 points in the three games he has played for them. A guy that is putting up numbers like this is going to be drawing attention from pro scouts, if he’d want to play in the association.
Just for the record, per RealGM, there has never been an Armenian NBA player. Might we be looking at the first?
NBA Future Ahead for Daniel Kirakosyan?
84-point triple-doubles are very rare to come by, at any level of basketball. Doing it in high-school is a historically rare feat. It’s never been done in college. Heck, even doing this on NBA 2K is nearly impossible.
Daniel Kirakosyan did this in a game now, and should absolutely be getting attention from the league. This is a news story that is popping up over a number of news feeds. He has his own YouTube channel where he’s been posting all of his own highlights to bring more attention to his game.
It is quite surprising this channel has only 20 followers, considering the level he has been able to play at. Nevertheless, this is how it spreads. A few basketball influences post some Kirakosyan clips, and all of a sudden everybody is talking about him.
If he wants to go to the NBA, the 6’3 guard would absolutely have to be considered by the talent scouts and front offices.
Performances like this come around once in a blue moon. This is that blue moon. Somebody will be capitalizing in some league, at some level.
