The Denver Nuggets have heard this one before: Nikola Jokic is on pace to make NBA history.
Heading into a Wednesday night game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Jokic and the Nuggets have just a few games left on the schedule. Currently, the superstar center is on pace to lead the league in multiple categories.
If nothing changes, then Jokic adds another historical feat to his resume.

At this stage of the season, Jokic has 63 games in the bag.
Seeing the court for 35.2 minutes per game, the veteran center is shooting 56.8% from the field and 38.0% from three to produce 28.0 points per game.
As stated above, the Nuggets’ big man is leading the NBA with 12.9 rebounds per game. He is also dishing out 10.9 assists per game, which is higher than everybody else.
For the second season in a row, Jokic is going to average a triple-double.
At this point in the season, Jokic is still in the league’s MVP conversation. However, he has fallen out of favor.
Earlier this season, Jokic suffered a knee injury, which took him off the court for roughly one month of action. At that point, Jokic understood that his shot at a fourth MVP award took a hit.
There’s still a chance, but most consider the Oklahoma City Thunder guard, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the favorite at this stage of the season.
The Nuggets Are Hoping For Something Bigger
The Nuggets clearly support Jokic’s individual awards run, but they are focused on getting back to the championship stage and competing for a title.
Heading into Wednesday’s action against the Grizzlies, the Nuggets are third in the Western Conference. They trail the San Antonio Spurs and the Thunder.
While they are on pace to lock up the third seed, the Nuggets know they have plenty of work to do in the NBA Playoffs, no matter where they land.
