The Golden State Warriors saw the return of Stephen Curry from a knee injury in their loss to the Houston Rockets on Sunday, but the team still has a few key players listed on the injury report, including center Al Horford.
Horford has missed time this year with several different injuries for the Warriors, most recently out with a strained right soleus that has sidelined him for the past 12 games.
However, along with a positive injury update offered by Golden State over the weekend, after their loss to the Rockets, the Warriors got more good news about a potential return for the offseason acquisition, who has spent more time on the bench than the team would have originally hoped.
Al Horford Injury Update

After the Warriors vs. Rockets game, which was marked by the return of Curry, who had been sidelined for more than two months with a knee injury, head coach Steve Kerr offered a new injury update on Horford.
The coach said that the 39-year-old is ramping up for a potential return.
“Steve Kerr said Al Horford will ramp up his workouts in the next few days in hopes of getting him back late in the week to give Warriors a fuller rotation heading into the play-in week,” Anthony Slater wrote on X.
The news of Horford set to ‘ramp up his workouts’ comes after the Warriors announced an official injury update on the center. Over the weekend, while the team did say that he remains out for the time being, they said he was making ‘good progress’ and will be re-evaluated soon.
“Golden State Warriors center Al Horford, who has missed the last 11 games due to a strained right soleus, was recently re-evaluated,” the team wrote in a statement on April 4. “The re-evaluation indicated that Horford is making good progress. He continues to advance the level of his on-court workouts and was incorporated into parts of team practice today. He will be re-evaluated again early next week.”
In 43 games this season, Horford is averaging 8.3 points, five rebounds, and 2.6 assists on 42.4% shooting. He hasn’t performed close to his peak, but the Warriors getting back another big body sooon after Curry’s return bodes well for a potential playoff run.
Stephen Curry Injury Return In Warriors vs. Rockets

GettySAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – APRIL 05: Stephen Curry #30 of the Golden State Warriors lays up a shot against Jae’Sean Tate #8 of the Houston Rockets in the second quarter at Chase Center on April 05, 2026 in San Francisco, California.
As mentioned, Curry was the story of the night, as after a long-awaited recovery, he returned to play for the Warriors after being sidelined since January 30th with a knee injury.
It had been the expectation Curry would come back on Sunday, and while he wasn’t placed in the starting lineup, he still showed some magic off the bench.
Despite the loss, Curry finished with 29 points in 26 minutes. He had a chance to hit a game-winner for Golden State in the final seconds, but missed.
Regardless, getting the franchise star available is all that matters for a Warriors team already set to be in the Play-In Tournament.
“You can just feel it,” Kerr said after the game. “We’re back in the mix. We’re back in the fight with Steph. … It doesn’t take much for him to find his rhythm. His rhythm is also our rhythm. … He changes everything.”
The Warriors are now 36-42 and tenth in the West standings. But now, they have Curry back, and potentially Horford soon. There are still several key players on the injury report, but at this point in the season, it’s getting one man back at a time for Golden State.
