Draymond Green #23 of the Golden State Warriors had a lot to say about the NBA tanking problem.

Draymond Green will enter the offseason in a precarious situation with the Golden State Warriors, the franchise that drafted him and allowed him to blossom into a future Hall of Famer.

Before he navigates an uncertain offseason, Green expressed his one wish for himself, which is to continue playing for the Warriors.

“I hope it’s not the end,” he said during Monday’s episode of The Draymond Green Show. “I have a player option coming up this summer, and I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

Green also opened up about making sense of the entire situation, saying that he is trying to understand the team’s perspective throughout the process after reports that he had been in trade talks during the deadline last February.

“This year was a little bit different for me, even going through the trade talks at the deadline, not quite knowing whether I’ll get traded or not,” he said. “I’ve never gone through that before…Going into the summer, I don’t know. We’ll see. Ultimately, I think I’d love to finish in the place I started, but there must be things held up on both ends.”

The Warriors bowed out of this year’s play-in tournament after losing to the Phoenix Suns on Friday. During the game, Green had a moment with his head coach, Steve Kerr, and longtime teammate Steph Curry, in which Kerr told his players his love and appreciation for their service during their 11-year partnership in Golden State.

Green has a player option worth $27.6 million for next season, which he can exercise to remain with the Warriors for at least one more year.

Green has been the heart of the Warriors’ dynasty during its championship seasons. Him along with Curry and Klay Thompson, won four NBA titles with the Warriors in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022.

Draymond Green Reiterates That He Is Not Retiring Soon

Despite the uncertainty of his future with the Warriors, Green reiterated that he is not retiring from the NBA anytime soon. Green believes he still has what it takes to compete in a high level in the league.

“I’m not retiring from basketball, though,” Green said. “I still love to play. And I think I’m still pretty decent. But this league we’re in is an interesting one. It’s one that you don’t really control everything.”

“So for me, I hope I’ve done enough to still be here because at the end of the day, if I haven’t done enough, I don’t want to be here.”

After winning the title in 2022, the Warriors have struggled to build a championship lineup around Curry and Green, mainly because of injuries to their stars, such as Jimmy Butler, Al Horford, Kristaps Porzingis, and Curry, for a long period of time this season.

Warriors Can Still Compete Next Season

The Warriors missed Jimmy Butler since January after a season-ending ACL injury, throwing a monkey wrench on the team’s title hopes.

However, Butler will be back for the team, potentially giving the Warriors a solid one-two punch with him and Curry, if they are healthy.

If the team decides to retain its core of Curry, Butler, Green, Horford, and Porzingis, the squad remains a formidable unit with veteran presence, a facet that proved vital during their first play-in game against the LA Clippers
