The 2025-26 NBA season for the Golden State Warriors hasn’t exactly gone to plan, with the numerous injuries, personnel struggles, and overall disappointment, record-wise, for a team that believed higher hopes were in store.
However, after the Warriors’ last game of the season, now locked into the tenth seed in the Play-In Tournament set to face off against the Los Angeles Clippers, superstar Stephen Curry said he was happy to still be playing basketball this year.
Golden State finished the year 37-45, and will need to win two Play-In games to become the eighth seed in the Western Conference Playoffs to have a date with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Stephen Curry On Warriors Play-In News
The Warriors have been locked into the tenth seed for a bit, but after finishes for the Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers, Golden State found out they’d be playing the team from Los Angeles to have a chance to further their season.
While Curry said that this year didn’t go as planned for the Warriors, due to season-ending injuries to players like Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody, being in the tenth seed means there is more basketball to be played this season, and he’s happy about that.
“We’ve been 10th twice?” he asked, per Anthony Slater of ESPN. “Grateful for it now because you have one game and hopefully another to keep your season alive.”
Despite it being a major uphill battle for the Warriors to beat the Clippers, and then either the Blazers or Phoenix Suns just to play the defending champions, Curry said he’s excited about the Play-In Tournament, though that’s because of the changing expectations for the team over the course of the year.
“I’m excited to have another game, for sure,” he added. “But (we) came into the year with a different mindset, but now we got to adjust.”
As he talked about the injuries, Curry was one of those players who were sidelined for the Warriors for an extended period. However, he played in four of the team’s last five games of the regular season and expects to be healthy for the Play-In Tournament.
In 43 games this season, the third-lowest total of his career, Curry averaged 26.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists on 46.8% shooting from the field and 39.3% from three-point range.
Warriors Vs Clippers And The Play-In Tournament

GettyINGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA – APRIL 12: Stephen Curry #30 of the Golden State Warriors passes against Darius Garland #10 and John Collins #20 of the Los Angeles Clippers during the first half of an NBA game at Intuit Dome on April 12, 2026 in Inglewood, California.
The tenth-seeded Warriors will be playing the ninth-seeded Clippers in the first round of the Western Conference Play-In Tournament.
It’s the fourth time Golden State has been in the tournament, and the second time they’ve entered as a tenth seed. The game against Los Angeles will tipoff on Wednesday, April 15, at 8 pm PST. The loser of that game will be eliminated from any playoff contention, ending their season right then and there.
With a win, which Curry is hopeful will be for his side, the Warriors or Clippers will be playing the loser of the Suns vs Blazers ‘7-10 seed game,’ while the winner of that automatically becomes the seventh seed.
Whoever wins the second round of the Play-In Tournament, as it could be any combination of the Warriors, Clippers, Suns, or Blazers, will become the eighth seed in the Western Conference and play the Thunder in the first round of the playoffs.
“You can just feel it,” head coach Steve Kerr said after Curry returned from his knee injury. “We’re back in the mix. We’re back in the fight with Steph.”
While Golden State had hope for a deep postseason run earlier in the year, even making it out of the Play-In just to face the defending champions remains a tall task. Still, Curry is happy to be playing more basketball, regardless of how meaningful the games are, or his team’s chances of re-creating the four title runs they went on in the past.
