The chances of Stephen Curry spending his entire career with the Golden State Warriors seemed to take a giant step on Monday, the first day of NBA free agency.
According to multiple reports, Curry and Golden State are expected to reach an agreement on a four-year, $215 million deal “soon”.

Curry was chosen by the Dubs with the seventh overall selection in the 2009 NBA Draft and has racked up seven All-Star appearances, two scoring titles, two regular season MVPs, and three NBA championships thus far.
Contract Extension a Signal of Steph’s Satisfaction With Draft?

Much has been said over the last few days about how Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green have stayed noticeably quiet since draft night last Thursday – though Green has since given his approval to both the Dubs’ selections of Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.
The reported contract extension for Steph appears to dissuade some of his perceived dissatisfaction with how the draft went though.
Though a blockbuster trade could still be made this summer involving Kuminga, Moody or both of them, at least for now, they look like they’re going to be teammates of Curry in the very near future.
Will Steph Still Be Elite at End of Contract?

It’s been expected for months that Curry and the Warriors would be agreeing to a contract extension, but to actually see the details, see that it’s for four years, and know that it’s all but complete must make Dub Nation feel good. No. 30 of course signed a five-year deal during the 2017 off-season worth $201 million, so if you combine the two deals, that makes nine years worth $416 million.
Though Steph is currently 33 years old, he still has one year left on his current deal, so the extension will kick in prior to the 2022-2023 campaign and keep the all-time great in the Bay Area through the 2025-2026 season. By then, he will be 38 years old.
The good news is, Steph just wrapped up perhaps his best regular season to date – stats-wise – as he led the league in scoring at 32.0 points. The future Hall-of-Famer was particularly lethal in the second half, has he posted over 37 points five assists and five rebounds per contest in the final 21 games, shooting 49.2% from the field and a brilliant 44.3% from deep.
Time will tell just how good Steph can remain and for how long, but for now, Warriors fans are likely in unanimous joy as their long-time team MVP is staying put for the foreseeable future.
