Slovenian superstar Luka Dončić has secured a permanent home in Los Angeles following his three-year, $165 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Sandra Barrera of the Southern California News Group reported that Dončić recently paid $25 million for the Manhattan Beach residence of retired five-time Grand Slam tennis champion Maria Sharapova. The modern three-story home features five bedrooms, a two-lane bowling alley, and a great room that opens directly to the pool. Dončić acquired the property through his business manager, Lara Beth Seager, according to property records and confirmed by the Southern California News Group.

Ocean Views a Key Draw to Dončić

One of the key attractions for Dončić was proximity to the ocean, a first for his professional career.

“Well, first of all, this is the first city I’ve played in that has an ocean, and I really like the ocean,” Dončić said on the Mind the Game podcast hosted by LeBron James and Steve Nash. “First thing, I mean, after a couple of days, that was the first thing on my mind, you know. It’s a lot. I like it, I like it very much. The only thing is the traffic.”

The serene beachfront setting will provide Dončić with a much-needed sanctuary as he prepares for his first full NBA season with the Lakers.

EuroBasket Exit Frustration

Dončić’s move to his new Los Angeles home comes on the heels of a frustrating quarterfinal loss at the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket. Slovenia fell 99-91 to Germany, with Dončić visibly upset over officiating decisions.

“I won’t say much,” Dončić told reporters. “I got my first technical foul just two minutes into the game when I shouted, ‘Come on.’ That shouldn’t happen in a quarterfinal, no matter who the player is. To not even get a warning—honestly, I don’t know what the referees were thinking.”

Slovenia led for most of the game, but Dončić’s foul trouble allowed Germany to mount a comeback and advance.

“Four fouls at the start of the third quarter—something like that has never happened to me in my life,” Dončić said. “I’m angry, 100 percent angry. I could have done more in the last quarter. I forced shots, I could have been better in key moments, I didn’t make the right decisions… Hats off to the guys, we showed we can win. We all fought and gave our best.”

Dominant Individual Performance

Dončić finished the game with 39 points, the most by any player in a EuroBasket quarterfinal game. He also added 10 rebounds and seven assists, though he was slowed in the second half after scoring 22 in the opening half when Slovenia held a 51-45 lead.

The loss was particularly hard for Slovenia, which had rallied with four consecutive wins following a 0-2 start.

“For us, this was not a good enough result; we aimed higher. But many people spoke about us disrespectfully,” Dončić said. “We fight for Slovenia, for the jersey, we all give 100 percent. Hats off to everyone. We could have been resting, but we fought for every ball and gave our all.”

Looking Ahead to Lakers Season

Dončić concluded the tournament as EuroBasket’s leading scorer, averaging 34.7 points per game. He also ranked first in steals, third in assists, and eighth in rebounds, further cementing his status as one of the NBA’s elite talents.

After the disappointment of EuroBasket, the tranquil setting of his new Manhattan Beach home will offer Dončić a chance to reset. Surrounded by the ocean and the comforts of his modern estate, he can refocus, recharge, and prepare for what is expected to be a pivotal first full season with the Lakers.
