Despite a gutsy Game 4 victory over the Denver Nuggets, the Minnesota Timberwolves found themselves in a tough spot on Saturday night, as Donte DiVincenzo and Anthony Edwards went out with injuries.
Neither player returned to the game. DiVincenzo was already out of the arena by the time Timberwolves players made it back to the locker room. The veteran guard was diagnosed with a torn Achilles as the Game 4 battle played on.
Edwards’ injury didn’t require him to leave before the game concluded. Therefore, the veteran forward Julius Randle was able to catch up with the star guard.
“I saw Ant and just kind of dapped him up,” Randle revealed after the game.
“There’s not much to say in those moments. I’m definitely going to give them a call tonight or text just to check up on them. It’s really not much to say. As somebody who’s been in those situations, processing is a lot. As a brother, I just want them to know that I’m there for them in any way possible. It’s a wide range of emotions that both of them are probably going through right now. Just kind of got to sit with that.”

The Timberwolves are in great shape. They’ve dominated the series against the Nuggets and have a 3-1 cushion going into their first game without DiVincenzo and Edwards.
However, losing an All-Star and a quality starter is still a major blow in the playoffs. The Timberwolves will have to try to close out the Nuggets without them, and could miss Edwards for the entire second-round series as well if they get there.
Randle and his teammates are confident in their chances of closing out the series on top. Game 5 in Colorado will take place on Monday, April 27, at 10:30 PM ET.
