“Obviously, this team is not there yet,” Davis said. “So, I’m going into the summer having conversations with them, like, ‘What’s realistic? What are you all thinking? If we are trying to win, what other players are we getting?’”

Keefe’s record reflects those circumstances, but team leadership has previously expressed support. Monumental Basketball president Michael Winger said, “I think Brian has done everything we’ve asked him to do… He’s developed young athletes… built a culture of competitiveness, accountability, togetherness and joy.”
Still, the Wizards are expected to shift priorities next season. With Davis and Young leading the roster and a high lottery pick on the way, the franchise must decide whether Keefe is the right coach to guide a transition from rebuilding to winning.
