The way things are going in Atlanta this season, the Falcons will need a miracle to make the playoffs and even then, it probably won’t happen.

Legendary Atlanta rapper Big Boi, best known for his role in iconic hip hop duo Outkast, joined the Men in Blazers podcast to offer a suggestion that could solve the franchise’s on-field problems.

“Falcons might just need to go ahead and throw the rest of the season”, said Big Boi. “Go and throw it, lose out, draft Trevor Lawrence from Clemson first [overall], and we have us a Tom Brady for the next 15 years.

“People can’t go to the game now anyway, s**t.”

That would be a brilliant idea if the New York Jets (0-11) weren’t already in the driver’s seat to pick Lawrence next April, and unfortunately, the Falcons (4-7) still aren’t that bad unless they follow Big Boi’s thinking and purposely lose.

However, University of Florida quarterback Kyle Trask or Ohio State sensation Justin Fields could still be on the table for Atlanta in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Why Kyle Trask is More Likely for Falcons

The Florida Gators have been absolutely thriving this season, mainly due to Trask. The Gators’ signal-caller has 34 touchdown passes to date and has thrown for at least 3 scores in all eight of this season’s games. He has 2,810 yards through the air and a QB rating of 93.4.

Bleacher Report has previously compared the 6-foot-5-inch, 240-pound Texas native to a “thicker Matt Ryan.” More notably, he has previously been compared to Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow as he has already posted better numbers this season than this year’s first overall pick.

Trask obviously has the physical size that teams desire, with enough pocket presence and mobility to be a solid big league quarterback. On the ground this season, Trask has posted just 88 yards and zero touchdowns on 36 rushing attempts.

Aside from being compared to Ryan, Trask has also been pegged as a potentially bigger, better version of Kirk Cousins or Ben Roethlisberger.

Why Justin Fields is More Likely for Falcons

The Georgia Bulldogs really missed out on something incredible letting Fields get away.

The Falcons landing Fields is a lot more likely than Lawrence or even Trask at this point, which is still certainly not a bad thing. Lawrence would require big bucks to snag him and the Falcons salary cap is looking even tighter in 2021 than it was just last year. Trask could also be selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-10) by the time Atlanta’s name gets called.

You just never know.

Fields, a native of Georgia, currently holds a 94.4 passer rating and has thrown for 1,208 yards, 13 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions this season. While he doesn’t necessarily fit the Tom Brady mold, he has the potential to grow at the position with the 2016 NFL MVP serving as a mentor until his tenure comes to an end.

Fields’ athletic playing style is often compared to those of current NFL stars Russell Wilson and Dak Prescott, as noted by NFL Media analyst and ex-NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah. At 6-foot-3-inches and 223 pounds, Fields has a similar build as Prescott who stands at 6-foot-2-inches and 238 pounds. Like both Prescott and Wilson, Fields is more of a mobile quarterback who can throw on the run and scamble when they need to get positive yards.

Fields will continue to state his case for the Heisman Trophy over Lawrence, who has 2,236 yards, 19 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on the season. Unfortunately, game cancellations caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic will play a big factor in who cracks the Heisman ballot in the coming weeks.

If Trask and Fields are off the board next spring, there is still a long-running list of talented passers set to enter the 2021 draft class as well.
