It’s draft week for the NFL and the Baltimore Ravens are strictly being told to avoid a possible 1st or 2nd round pick.

According to Bleacher Report, the Ravens are being warned to avoid Clemson Defensive Tackle Peter Woods.

“Peter Woods started the college football season much higher on most big boards than he ended up. Still, his explosiveness and ceiling are likely to make him a first rounder.” Alex Ballentine wrote in the Bleacher Report article. “However, the Ravens should be looking elsewhere when they get on the clock with the 14th pick. Woods’ ideal fit in the league is as a gap-shooting 3-technique whose job is to wreak havoc.”

Woods Described as ‘Excellent Run-Stuffer’

Peter Woods did not have a great 2025 season, but many still think he can be an asset to any team.

“Peter Woods is already excellent as a run-stuffer, but what makes him special is the upside he offers as a pass rusher,” Jaime Eisner wrote in an NFL Draft Network article. “His athleticism and relentless motor give him the potential to develop into a true major disruptor in the passing game.”

“Woods underperformed in 2025 but earned PFF grades above 80.0 in each of the two seasons prior and has the skill set to shine as a pass rusher and against the run.” Gordon McGuinness wrote in a Pro Football Focus article.

Now that Jesse Minter has taken over as head coach, the Ravens will have a brand-new scheme. A scheme that may not fit a player like Peter Woods.

“With Jesse Minter taking over as the Ravens head coach we can expect a multiple-front defense with 3-4 DNA. That means, at some point, the defensive lineman on the roster are going to be expected to throw hands, get extension and control gaps.” Alex Ballentine wrote in the Bleacher Report article. “When the Ravens are in a four-man front, it’s likely going to be Nnamdi Madubuike that draws the job of 3-technique. That leaves Woods as a scheme mismatch as a prospect.”

Nnamdi Madubuike Could Return

In 2025, Madubuike missed 15 games due to a severe neck injury. This created a major hole within the Baltimore Ravens‘ defensive line. The idea of drafting Peter Woods would be better if Madubuike did not plan to return.

“Madubuike, 28, has been one of the most disruptive interior defensive linemen in the league. He went from being a third-round pick in 2020 to a two-time Pro Bowler who signed a four-year, $98 million extension before the 2024 season.” Jameison Hensley wrote in an ESPN article.

“From the start of 2023 until he was placed on injured reserve Sept. 27, Madubuike’s 21.5 sacks were the most by an NFL defensive tackle. His 69 career quarterback hits are the most on the Ravens since 2020.”

If the Baltimore Ravens could get the big guy back, this would add another impressive layer to their defense. With a brand-new coaching staff, the Ravens’ defense could turn heads during the 2026 season.

For now, the Baltimore Ravens will have their eyes on Peter Woods to address their defensive line, but if they draft Woods, would it be the right decision?
