Ravens Bring Back 6-foot-2, 200-Pound WR After Devastating Injury

The Baltimore Ravens are giving a promising wide receiver prospect another chance, bringing back undrafted free agent Xavier Guillory for another chance to make the 53-man roster.

“Ravens re-signed receiver Xavier Guillory, per league source,” NFL reporter Aaron Wilson wrote on his official X account on Monday. “He was released with an injury settlement last season, then worked out for them in January. Now, former undrafted free agent from (Arizona State) is back with AFC North franchise.”

Guillory broke his collarbone in the final 2025 preseason game with the Ravens.

“Guillory was removed from the Ravens‘ final preseason game with what was reported as a shoulder injury, but later revealed that the result was indeed a broken collarbone,” Heavy’s Matt Skillings wrote in August 2025. “Guillory didn’t have any targets in the Ravens’ first two preseason games against Pittsburgh and Dallas, but had accumulated three catches for 17 yards before exiting the preseason finale against the Washington Commanders.”

Brutal Setback for Former Arizona State Star

With hindsight being 20/20, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound Guillory may have very well found himself playing in the regular season at some point in 2025 with the pronounced struggles for Baltimore’s offense last season.

That’s why the injury was so devastating.

“It’s difficult because I think he was having a pretty good camp,” Arizona State wide receivers coach and Super Bowl champion Hines Ward told Cronkite News in September 2025. “I mean, just from the people that I know that work with the Ravens, who raved about him … They raved about his work ethic, the way he practiced. But you go down the last preseason game, it can be demoralizing.”

The Ravens have a WR1 in place with Zay Flowers, but beyond that there’s not much to point to in terms of reliable pass catchers — former 1st round pick Rashod Bateman signed a 3-year, $36.75 million contract before the 2025 season and responded with 19 receptions for 224 yards and 2 touchdowns in 13 games.

“Don’t sleep on a first-round receiver such as Jordyn Tyson (Arizona State) or Makai Lemon (USC), either,” ESPN’s Ben Solak wrote. “The WR2 behind Zay Flowers has been Rashod Bateman for years now, yet he has never risen to the call.”

The Ravens don’t have a voidable year in Bateman’s contract until 2028, and while he only counted $4.548 million against the salary cap in 2025, that number goes up to $6.298 million in 2026 and $10.9 million in 2027.

Ravens Have New Decision Makers in Place in 2026

Guillory and his teammates have all returned to different leadership in 2026.

Super Bowl-winning head coach John Harbaugh was fired by the Ravens after 18 seasons following the 2025 season. It was a year in which the Ravens were Super Bowl favorites headed into the season, but went 8-9 in the regular season and missed the playoffs for the 1st time since 2021.

Harbaugh was replaced with 1 of his former assistants, Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, who is a 1st time head coach.

Minter went out and hired 1 of the NFL’s up-and-coming offensive coordinators in 29-year-old Declan Doyle.

Doyle was the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears in 2025 but that was a largely ceremonial role, with head coach Ben Johnson calling the plays, and he will be truly running the show with the offense in Baltimore in 2026.
