The Baltimore Ravens now have one of the NFL’s handful of truly game-changing pass rushers thanks to a blockbuster trade for Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby, giving up a pair of 1st round picks in an unprecedented move for the franchise.
The feeling around Baltimore has been one of elation since the deal was announced late Friday night, but the 1 thing missing from the whole mix has been Crosby.
So, what did the NFL All-Pro think about the move?
Crosby broke his silence on Saturday afternoon with a 12-minute video posted to his official X account in which he talked about the process that led to him leaving Las Vegas and his feelings on coming to the Ravens, where he automatically turns the team into not just a Super Bowl contender but one of the favorites to win it all.
“It’s a new day,” Crosby said. “I’m going to Baltimore. Flock Nation, everybody in the whole city of Baltimore, I’ve got a lot to learn. I’ll attack it head-on like I do anything else, but everything is going to be new to me. To the fans there, I’m not going to sit here and make a bunch of grand predictions or anything of that nature. I’m going there with 1 purpose, and that’s to help ultimately to get this team where it needs to be and where everybody wants to go, and that’s winning a Super Bowl. And I know that’s going to be very difficult and there’s no guarantee in that, but I’m going to give everything in my heart and soul to bring a championship to Baltimore … no more words needed for that. I’m going to lead by action. Lead fully … I want to get to that pinnacle.”
Crosby Emotional Over Leaving Las Vegas
Crosby got choked up in the first few minutes of the video talking about leaving Las Vegas, where he’s become a superstar since the Raiders drafted him in the 4th round out of Eastern Michigan in the 2019 NFL draft, even going so far as to say 1 day he’d like to finish his career in a Raiders uniform.
“I put everything I had into being a Raider,” Crosby said, his voice cracking. “I’m not trying to get emotional. Ever since I’ve been here, I’ve had 1 goal and that was to be the best version of myself and help bring a championship back to Raiders. I let y’all down, man.”
He also thanked the organization for supporting him on his sobriety journey after he voluntarily checked himself into an inpatient rehab clinic following his rookie season.
“Thank you, especially, to (owner) Mark Davis,” Crosby said. “I’ll never forget having to check myself into rehab after rookie season, at my lowest point, and you supported me through all of that … to the fans … you have supported me through it all. People have their opinions. They’re gonna be upset. You have the right to be upset … I did everything within my own power to try and bring a winner to this organization.”
Crosby Gets 1st Opportunity to Play for Contender
In 7 seasons in Las Vegas, Crosby called the 1 year the Raiders had a winning record and made the playoffs “the most fun I’ve ever had in my life.”
There should be many more fun times ahead in Baltimore.
Crosby, who signed a 3-year, $106.5 million contract extension before the 2025 season, joins a defense littered with NFL All-Pro talent. With Minter, a defensive-minded head coach leading the way, the sky could be the limit.
