The Baltimore Ravens shocked the NFL on Wednesday by signing Trey Hendrickson to a four-year, $120 Million contract. The move came after the Baltimore Ravens backed out of a trade for Maxx Crosby.
“Ravens and Trey Hendrickson reached agreement on a four-year, $112 million contract. Hendrickson stays in the AFC North and now will be facing Joe Burrow and the Bengals twice a season.” Adam Schefter wrote on his official X account on Wednesday.
In what has been an emotional roller-coaster for Ravens Fans around the world, they get their star pass rusher they have been looking for. After a chaotic week to say the least, Hendrickson revealed why he signed with the Baltimore Ravens during his introductory press conference.
Hendrickson Is in ‘Win Now Mode’
According to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, Trey Hendrickson believes the Ravens have legit Super Bowl aspirations.
“Hendrickson: “‘I’m in a win-now window. This opportunity to hoist the Lombardi Trophy and build something from the ground up is an amazing opportunity. A lot of things have transpired. This is a great fit for me.'” Jeff Zrebiec wrote on his official X account.
The Ravens have struggled to get over the hump over the years despite having talented football teams. Over the past two years, defense has been an issue.
Hendrickson’s signing was a surprising twist before free agency officially began. The Baltimore Ravens traded two first round picks for Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby. Further reports revealed that Crosby did not pass his physical which led the Baltimore Ravens to back out of the trade.
As a result, Trey Hendrickson turned out to be a great contingency plan for the Ravens signing the edge rusher fresh off of backing out of the Crosby trade. Nonetheless, the Ravens achieve their goal of improving their pass rush.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Trey Hendrickson’s four-year deal is worth up to $120 million and includes $60 million fully guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus.
Hendrickson Has One of the NFL’s Top Pass Rushers
Trey Hendrickson was arguably the best player available in this year’s free agency class. Hendrickson signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as a free agent in 2021. Since that time, Trey Hendrickson has been one of the NFL’s premier pass rushers.
According to an ESPN article, he ranks second in overall pressure rate (13.2%), according to ESPN Research, and has 61 sacks, the fourth-highest total. Hendrickson was a third-round selection by the New Orleans Saints in 2017 and has 81 sacks in nine NFL seasons. In 2024, Hendrickson was named an All-Pro after leading the league in sacks with 17.5.
Trey Hendrickson missed 10 games due to injuries in 2025 and only had 4.0 sacks. He ended the 2025 season on injured reserve due to a procedure to repair a core muscle injury.
Hendrickson will add some tenacity to the Baltimore Ravens defense they have desperately needed. Baltimore was the 10th ranked defense against the run in 2025. They were the 30th ranked defense against the pass. Defensively, the Ravens had trouble generating pressure with a 30% pass rush win rate in 2025. According to ESPN, the win rate ranked 28th in the league.
With a defensive-minded head coach and an all-new coaching staff, Baltimore will yet again have great expectations for their defense in the 2026 season.
