The Buffalo Bills are gearing up for a possible playoff run. However, one of their assistant head coaches is going to have his eyes on more than a potential Super Bowl Trophy.
Bills‘ offensive coordinator Joe Brady is going to be one of the hottest coaching candidates this offseason, and he could be in the running for a few openings.
Joe Brady Listed As Possible Fit For the Raiders
One possible job Brady could take on is in Las Vegas. The Raiders fired head coach Pete Carroll on Monday after one season with the team.
Jacob Camenker of USA Today named a few possible candidates to replace Carroll, including Brady.
“Brady is another young coordinator who could soon get a coaching job. The 36-year-old has a strong track record developing quarterbacks, as he helped Joe Burrow turn in a historic season at LSU and oversaw Josh Allen’s first NFL MVP campaign in 2024,” Camenker wrote on Monday.
“Brady has already spent parts of five seasons as an NFL offensive coordinator, giving him a lot of experience for a candidate his age. That could convince Davis – ever looking for flashy hires – to bring in Brady for a look.”
The Raiders would hit a home run if they end up hiring Brady. One thing Las Vegas has to add to its team is a young offensive-minded head coach, and Brady checks all those boxes.
The Raiders currently hold the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. There is already a lot of speculation that Las Vegas will select a quarterback with this choice.
One of the top quarterbacks who could be coming out of college this season is Fernando Mendoza from Indiana. Mendoza is currently leading the Hoosiers on a College Football Playoff run and could be the No. 1 pick this April.
If the Raiders decided to draft Mendoza and hire Brady, they could be the next great young head coaching duo in the NFL.
Brady was in the running for a head coaching job last season, and there was a lot of speculation that he would land in New Orleans with the Saints.
Brady Returned to the Bills
However, Brady pulled out of the running for the job, and the Saints decided to hire Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who was coming off a Super Bowl win with Philadelphia.
Brady could’ve made the right choice by heading back to Buffalo for the season, as Bears head coach Ben Johnson did two seasons ago.
Johnson was one of the hottest candidates during the 2024 cycle after being the Lions‘ offensive coordinator. He decided he didn’t like any of the jobs and returned to Detroit for one more season. Johnson accepted Chicago’s head coaching position this past offseason, and it was one of the best decisions.
The Bears are one of the best teams in the NFL, and Brady could follow the same path that Johnson did.
It will be interesting to see whether Brady decides to take on any NFL head coaching positions this offseason or return to the Bills for another season.
