Maxx Crosby Trade Rumors: The Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher is the subject of a report that's of interest to the Chicago Bears.

The Buffalo Bills pulled off one of the biggest trades so far this NFL offseason, landing wide receiver DJ Moore to give their offense a much-needed weapon.

It appears the Bills will not make a similar move on defense, however.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter gave an update and the team’s reported interest in Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby, pointing out that the team may be prepared to address other priorities.

Bills ‘Out’ on Maxx Crosby

In an appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show” on Thursday, Schefter reported that the trade rumors around Crosby have been evolving since the deal that sent Moore from the Chicago Bears to Buffalo.

Schefter reported that the Bears are still in the mix but not likely to get a trade done, while the Bills have pulled themselves out of the running.

There had already been signs that the Bills would have faced tough competition to land the star edge rusher. Sports Illustrated insider Albert Breer reported on the “Rich Eisen Show” on Wednesday that as many as a dozen teams were in the mix to land Crosby.

“Obviously, calls have come in (for Crosby),” Breer said. “I think a quarter of the league, if not more, is interested in trading for him at various prices, and now the question is, which way this goes.”

And ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler had already reported that the Raiders were seeking a massive haul of draft pick, a price likely too high for the Bills.

“It’s somewhat quiet on the Maxx Crosby front,” Fowler reported. “This is a layered discussion because a team source said a few weeks ago that Crosby’s chances of returning were relatively small. But he doesn’t plan to request a trade. He’s tight with Raiders owner Mark Davis, and he probably wouldn’t garner a Micah Parsons-like trade package (two firsts and a key player).”

The Raiders reportedly hoped to keep Crosby, which could be reflected in the high asking price for the former Pro Bowler.

Bills Could Target Younger Edge Rusher

The Bills could also tend to their edge rushing group in the NFL draft, with some analysts suggesting they will invest a first-round pick on the position.

Trevor Sikkema from Pro Football Focus predicted the Bills would land Texas Tech pass rusher Romello Height, whose athleticism and production would be an asset to the defensive line.

“Height pairs ideal length with long arms and quick hands, deploying a refined pass-rush arsenal that produced a 92.4 PFF pass-rush grade and a 22.2% pass-rush win rate in 2025 as part of Texas Tech’s dominant defensive line,” Sikkema wrote. “He’s the type of quick, finesse-oriented edge rusher the Bills are currently missing.”

The Bills started the offseason by making some subtractions, cutting ties with cornerbacks Dane Jackson and Taron Johnson as well as safety Taylor Rapp. The three were all released in cap-saving moves, which game the team some breathing room and the ability to target new positions — but it may have also caused a new need for the upcoming draft.
