The NFL will release its entire 2026 schedule on Thursday, but the Bills have already learned about one of their games and when it will take place.
Buffalo will host the Detroit Lions in Week 2 on “Thursday Night Football,” and this game is particularly significant as it marks the first regular season matchup at the new Bills stadium, which is set to open this fall.
Ticket Prices to Get Into the Bills’ Home Opener Aren’t Cheap
However, if you’re a Bills fan looking to attend the home opener, be prepared to shell out some serious cash.
According to Vivid Seats, the entry price for the home opener is set at $663, which is quite steep just to get in the door. This likely means that the tickets are in the upper deck. It’s no surprise that tickets for the first regular season game at the new Bills stadium would be pricey, but $663 is a hefty amount for a football game that isn’t part of the playoffs or the Super Bowl.
The Bills boast one of the best fan bases in the NFL, so filling the stadium won’t be a challenge; many dedicated supporters are willing to pay the price. Yet, this situation unfortunately limits opportunities for die-hard fans who may not be able to afford a ticket. Sports should be about inclusivity and allowing all fans to experience the excitement. Still, these high ticket prices have taken that away from so many, not just in Buffalo but across every sport.
Roger Goodell is Also Excited About the Bills’ Stadium
As Bills fans prepare to enter the new stadium in Week 2, there’s a good chance that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will make an appearance. Hailing from Jamestown, New York, Goodell has a strong connection to the Bills and typically attends games when the team opens a new stadium. It would be quite surprising if he didn’t show up in the area where he grew up.
Goodell expressed his excitement at the NFL owners’ meeting in March about the Bills’ upcoming season in their new stadium.
“I have a great deal of pride in Western New York,” he said, via Salvatore Capaccio from WGR 550. “But I also have a great deal of pride in the Bills, and how they’ve been able to work through and get the stadium in a great public-private partnership with the state, the county, and Terry Pegula and his team stepping up. So I’m excited. I haven’t seen the stadium in a few months, but we saw some more pictures this week that have me even more excited, so I look forward to being there.”
The new Bills stadium is set to create a lot of excitement among fans this season, and the expectations of winning the Super Bowl are even higher, generating even more buzz.
Buffalo took decisive action to overcome its hurdles by parting ways with head coach Sean McDermott and appointing Joe Brady as his successor. This change leaves no room for excuses if the Bills fail to reach the Super Bowl in the coming seasons.
