Bills Could Get Unpleasant Update on Joe Brady After Ravens Move to Hire Jesse Minter

The Bills are currently in the midst of a coaching search, and one potential candidate will not be heading to Buffalo. The Baltimore Ravens are expected to hire Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, according to multiple sources announced on Thursday.

Buffalo hadn’t named Minter as the person it intended to interview as of Thursday. However, since the coaching search only began on Monday, the Bills could still be exploring potential candidates.

Although Minter won’t be joining the Bills, he could bring one of Buffalo’s top coaching candidates with him to Baltimore.

Bills’ Joe Brady Could Land With Ravens

Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady interviewed for Buffalo’s head coaching position on Wednesday, but he was also a candidate the Ravens were pursuing.

Although Brady won’t be the head coach of the Ravens, there’s still a possibility he could join Minter’s staff. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero mentioned on X that Brady might be a potential offensive coordinator candidate for the Ravens.

“The Ravens did their last head coaching interview today with Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, who now is a potential OC candidate for Baltimore as Jesse Minter fills out his staff,” Pelissero wrote on Thursday.

Brady is unlikely to accept an offensive coordinator role with the Ravens if he is offered the head coach role with the Bills. However, if Buffalo decides not to extend that offer, there’s a good chance he could end up with the Ravens.

If the Bills intend to hire a defensive-minded head coach and hope that this coach will ask Brady to remain as offensive coordinator, that plan might not pan out as expected.

Brady Could Work With Lamar Jackson

Brady might feel insulted that the Bills don’t think highly enough of him to consider him for the head coach position, and he might want to leave. Now he could have a great option.

Leaving the Bills would undoubtedly be challenging, but joining the Ravens to collaborate with quarterback Lamar Jackson could be the best backup plan any coach could hope for.

Not many quarterbacks can match the talent of Josh Allen, but Jackson is right there with him, and sometimes even surpasses him — if he can stay healthy.

Brady could work his magic like he did with Allen, bringing that talent to Jackson and transforming the Ravens back into a powerhouse. The Bills now have to think long and hard about who they want to be their next head coach.

If Buffalo is serious about hiring Brady as its next head coach, the Bills might have to make the move to ensure Brady doesn’t head to the Ravens.

The Ravens and Bills have been the top two teams in the AFC over the past five years without making it to the Super Bowl, and they’re likely to compete in the playoffs for many more years ahead. It wouldn’t bode well for Buffalo to see its former offensive coordinator, who could have been its head coach, drawing up plays for one of the NFL’s elite teams and ultimately beating the Bills in the playoffs.
