April is Autism Awareness Month, and the Buffalo Bills are doing their part to ensure everyone feels included in their new stadium.

The Bills will open new Highmark Stadium this fall, and they made an exciting announcement on Monday about new features to be added.

Bills Added Seven Sensory Rooms to New Stadium

Buffalo will introduce seven sensory rooms at the stadium, making it the venue with the most such rooms in the world.

“The sensory rooms will be accessible to all ticket holders and will be located on all levels and spaces of the stadium,” Maddy Glab from Buffalo Bills.com wrote on Monday. “The Bills-branded rooms are designed to provide a calming, supportive environment for guests who may need a personal and quiet environment, while still enjoying Buffalo’s game-day experience.”

Buffalo’s decision to add seven sensory rooms is a fantastic idea. Sometimes the loud stadium can be overwhelming for people with disabilities. Still, the Bills are doing an amazing job of ensuring everyone can enjoy the game, regardless of their needs.

“A sensory room is a specially designed space that provides individuals with a controlled and immersive sensory experience,” via Interaction Empowering People. “These rooms are not only used for relaxation and stress relief but also as therapeutic tools for various sensory processing disorders, disabilities, and cognitive conditions.”

The Bills have scored a big win with their fantastic idea, and many within the organization are excited about the new addition to the stadium.

“We’re excited to continue to provide a sensory inclusive stadium experience for our fans at Highmark Stadium and are humbled to now have seven sensory rooms for fans to utilize,” Bills senior director of guest experience Zach Rutkowski said. “Our Guest Experience team is committed to creating positive, lasting memories for our fans and our collaboration with KultureCity, Kaleida Health and the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism helps make that possible.”

Hopefully, the Bills will start a trend among stadiums across the four major North American sports leagues by adding sensory rooms to their venues, helping fans feel more included.

Buffalo Will Have Another Cool Stadium Element

The new Bills stadium promises to be incredible, and the sensory rooms are just one of the many things fans are eagerly anticipating.

Another thing the Bills are working on is constructing a massive new Bison statue in front of the stadium at Highmaker’s Family Circle.

“Official renderings of the bison statues — set to receive prime placement outside the Buffalo Bills’ new Highmark Stadium — are being shared as the stadium gets closer to completion to open for the 2026 season,” ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg wrote on March 24.

Getzenberg also mentioned how tall the Bull will be measured.

“The bull will measure approximately 24 feet tall by 29 feet long, the cow 19 by 23 feet (23,000 pounds) and the calf 9 by 13 feet, each standing on a 3-by-4.5-foot base. There are also a few misconceptions to clear up,” Getzenberg added. “The statues were never intended to be the world’s tallest, they won’t be climbable and previously circulated images were mock-ups, not final designs.”

It will be neat to see how the stadium turns out and what other new features it has.
