Former Buffalo Bills linebacker Paul Posluszny may have played for the team a long time ago (2007-2010), but he still keeps close tabs on his original NFL franchise.

The former second-round draft pick of the Bills had a long, prolific career in the NFL, spending 11 years in the league, including his final seven seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Posluszny racked up over 100 tackles in three of his four seasons in Buffalo and was a Pro Bowler during the 2013 season in Jacksonville.

Fast forward to today and the Bills are one of the top annual playoff contenders in the NFL. They have the longest current active postseason streak — since 2019 — and routinely advance deep in the playoffs. However, they have yet to advance to a Super Bowl during the Josh Allen era, something they’ll look to do this season.

Posluszny gave his true thoughts in a one-on-one interview — courtesy of iPredicta — on where he sees the Bills in the NFL hierarchy, saying they should be in the hunt for the AFC East and in “contention” for the Super Bowl.

Posluszny: Bills Should be ‘in Contention’ for Super Bowl Championship

“It’ll be an interesting year for them,” said Posluszny in a one-on-one interview. “So they obviously had the coaching change. But the good thing is, they’re keeping some consistency with who they brought in. I love the quarterback. I got to see him play in person at the end of the season last year. And obviously he has outstanding passion, outstanding capabilities. So, they’re obviously going to be in the hunt for the AFC East title, no doubt about that. It’s going to be an exciting year for them. You would think that they will be in contention for a Super Bowl championship.”

Bills Enter New Era With Joe Brady at Head Coach

The Bills once again had an excellent season last year. Although they didn’t win the AFC East — the New England Patriots did — they still turned in a 12-5 record and advanced to the divisional round of the playoffs. They did so after snapping the Jaguars’ eight game win streak with a heart-pounding win in the wild card round of the playoffs. Buffalo lost a heartbreaker in the divisional round against the Denver Broncos on a controversial call.

The Bills obviously enter a new era this year with longtime head coach Sean McDermott out and former offensive coordinator Joe Brady taking over the head coaching gig. Posluszny gave his thoughts on the Bills entering in a new era with the 36-year-old Brady taking over the job.

“It’s obviously a tough situation for Coach McDermott, because you look at his record and everything that he’s accomplished, how does a coach like that get let go? Obviously a tough situation for him,” said Posluszny. “Now the great move is the consistency of it. So leaving Coach Brady in the position that he’s in where he’s now in charge of the team, where there’s not a high turnover where the whole roster’s changing and the schemes are changing. The fact that they left those pieces in place, to me, means there shouldn’t be a ton of change from a schematic standpoint and the players will just be able to go ahead and operate like they did last year and go on to the next level as well.”

During the same interview, Posluszny makes sure to mention that Allen is the best quarterback in the league.

It’s clear the Bills have the pieces in place to make a Super Bowl run. We’ll see if they can finally crack through their glass ceiling and advance to their first Super Bowl since the 1993 season.
