The Buffalo Bills‘ receiving corps is one of the most underrated position groups in the NFL.
Ever since Buffalo traded away star receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans in the 2024 offseason, many thought the Bills’ receiving core was going to have problems.
Buffalo Has A Great Group Of Wide Receivers
Instead of Buffalo having one star receiver, a handful of them stepped up, and one of them was Khalil Shakir, who recorded 821 receiving yards and four touchdowns last season.
The Bills also drafted Florida State receiver Keon Coleman in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft and are expected to take a leap in year two.
With training camp starting last week, the Bills are still working to finalize their entire roster.
Over the weekend, Buffalo’s pass catcher, David White, decided to retire. White was an undrafted free agent in 2024 and signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The 25-year-old receiver had a season-ending knee injury last year and signed with the Bills before training camp.
It seems like White had a change of heart the last few days and decided it was time to put the helmet down.
Bills Worked Out Justyn Ross
With White retiring, the Bills should try to add another receiver to the team, and according to Ari Meirov, Buffalo worked out former Clemson and Kansas City receiver Justyn Ross on Monday.
Ross made his college debut in the 2018 season, bringing in 12 receptions for 301 yards and three touchdowns in the college football playoffs and title game.
After Ross made a name for himself as a freshman in 2018, many were waiting for him to be the next big-time college receiver and become a first-round pick.
Ross ultimately experienced neck issues throughout the remainder of his college career, which ultimately led to his selection as an undrafted free agent by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023.
Ross didn’t have much production through his first two seasons in the NFL, only playing in 12 games and recording six receptions for 53 yards.
The Chiefs parted ways with Ross this offseason, and now the Bills could be adding him to their roster.
It wouldn’t hurt to bring in Ross and see what he can bring during training camp. If Ross shows signs he can have a role on the team, then he can make the practice squad after roster cuts.
Ross will likely only be camp body if he does get signed, but another opportunity to show NFL teams what he can do is the opportunity he is looking for.
