Bills lose CB to Packers.

The Buffalo Bills have made some roster moves over the past couple of days, and one player the team waived has been claimed.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero revealed that the Green Bay Packers claimed cornerback M.J. Devonshire off waivers from the Bills.

“The Packers claimed DB M.J. Devonshire off waivers from Buffalo and TE Luke Lachey off waivers from Houston,” Pelissero wrote.

The Bills waived Devonshire to make room on the 90-man offseason roster after signing former Kansas City Chiefs pass rusher, Mike Danna.

Buffalo signed Devonshire to its practice squad on December 9, and after a couple of weeks on the practice squad, he signed a reserve/futures contract with the Bills.

However, Devonshire never appeared in a game for the Bills and will now add some cornerback depth for the Packers ahead of OTAs.

Devonshire was selected in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Las Vegas Raiders. He spent time with the Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens in the 2025 offseason.

The 25-year-old cornerback played college football at Kentucky before transferring to Pittsburgh for his final three seasons.

Bills had Been Interested in Devonshire

Buffalo waived Devonshire just months after signing him, despite the team being interested in him for years.

Bills reporter Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic revealed back in December that Buffalo showed some pre-draft interest in Devonshire in 2024.

“Another Pitt DB for the Bills locker room,” Buscaglia shared in a post on X. “The Bills showed some pre-draft interest in Devonshire in 2024. His arm length is nearly 33 inches, so perhaps that signals they’re looking at him at boundary CB. Definitely an interesting one.”

Ultimately, the Bills opted not to draft Devonshire, but were able to sign him last season. Yet, he never appeared in a game for the Bills and will now look to try to earn a roster spot with the Packers.

Buffalo Makes Roster Moves

The Bills waiving Devonshire was the first of back-to-back days with roster moves for Buffalo.

Buffalo signed Danna to help bolster the pass rush, as he helped the Kansas City Chiefs win back-to-back Super Bowls.

On Tuesday, the Bills signed veteran tight end Shane Zylstra and released kicker Maddux Trujillo. The news signals Tyler Bass will be Buffalo’s kicker in 2026, as he’s the only kicker on the roster now.

“Bills are signing veteran tight end Shane Zylstra and releasing K Maddux Trujillo. Brandon Beane has emphasized his belief in Tyler Bass all offseason. Bass is now the only remaining kicker on Buffalo’s roster,” Matt Parrino wrote on X.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane said this offseason that Bass would be the team’s kicker. Bass missed the entire 2025 season due to a hip/groin injury, as he ended up needing surgery in December, which ended his season.

Buffalo selected Bass in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He’s gone 131-for-155 in his career and is 264-for-274 on extra points, while in 2025, he went 24-for-29.

The Bills’ voluntary OTAs are scheduled for May 18-19, May 21, May 26-28, and June 1-4. Mandatory minicamp will be June 9-11.
