The Chicago Bears have signed former Buffalo Bills cornerback Cam Lewis on a two-year deal, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler was the first to report.
“Former Bills defensive back Cam Lewis to the Chicago Bears on a two-year deal, per source.”
Fowler also added this regarding Lewis: “Lewis was a versatile piece for Bills over six seasons, playing corner, safety and nickel corner. Adds to Chicago’s secondary, which is losing multiple pieces.”
Lewis, 28, is a former undrafted free agent Buffalo signed back in 2020. He racked up 167 total tackles, three forced fumbles, and one interception since then.
Last season, he had 43 total tackles, four pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and one tackle for loss.
The amount Lewis has signed for has not been announced, but it should be on the cheaper end compared to other contracts Chicago has handed out to free agents this offseason.

This move comes immediately after the Bears lost Nahshon Wright to the New York Jets.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Jets are signing Wright to a one-year deal worth up to $5.5 million. Wright was a Pro Bowler last season in Chicago and had a massive year with five interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 80 tackles.
Lewis is likely a depth signing for the Bears, and the fact that he can play multiple spots in the secondary is huge.
In 2025, he played 99 snaps at free safety, 145 at nickel, and 170 at box safety.

More on Lewis

Lewis knows he needs to be versatile to carve out a long career in the NFL, and he reflected on that with WGRZ-TV.
“My process is just a little bit different than your average guy that would just be at one position. So on Monday we get done watching the previous game. I’m looking over probably the cost we’re thinking about, getting a running, and then I go probably to safety and then I go to nickel from Monday to Tuesday and then, Tuesday to Wednesday I start looking at dime as well because that’s going in so we have 3rd down and two minute the next following days. And then I still have to look at special teams aspect in the midst of everything.”
This grind and hard work by Lewis is the reason why he’s been able to carve out a role with the Bills since going undrafted back in 2020, and the work doesn’t stop for him.
“I feel like they just know what they’re gonna get out of me,” Lewis added. “Every time I’m stepping on the field.”
He’ll be motivated to step into unfamiliar territory and have an opportunity to make a name for himself in Chicago.
