NFL insider Dianna Russini provided a key update Wednesday that could shape the trade market for Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro pass rusher Maxx Crosby.
And it massively affects the Chicago Bears trade hopes.
The Baltimore Ravens backed out of a blockbuster trade agreement earlier this week. Now, new league intel suggests the situation around Crosby remains very fluid.
“Teams that are interested in Maxx Crosby believe the Raiders aren’t going to come off their asking price of two first-round picks at this time,” Russini wrote on X.
That price tag is notable because Baltimore had a deal in place for those two first-round picks before it fell through.
With the trade market reopened, teams across the league, including the Bears, are now reassessing whether they are willing to meet Las Vegas’ steep demand.
Many analysts believe the Bears may not have to give up as much as initially expected after Crosby failed his physical.
But Russini’s new report makes it clear that the Raiders are not lowering their asking price.
Bears Could Re-Emerge in Maxx Crosby Trade Market
Russini also provided an update on Crosby’s current situation inside the Raiders organization.
“I’m told that Crosby is at the Raiders’ facility today as he continues to rehab,” Russini reported. “Las Vegas can still trade its star if it wants, but there is a reality where Crosby is playing for the Raiders this upcoming season.”
One league source also revealed Crosby’s mindset after the failed deal.
“Maxx is going to be a monster this year as an F you to Baltimore,” the source texted.
With the Ravens no longer in the picture, speculation has quickly shifted toward other potential suitors, including Chicago.
The Bears have spent the early portion of the offseason strengthening their defense through smaller additions. They signed Devin Bush and Coby Bryant on the first two days of free agency.
Those moves added depth and experience.
However, they have not made a franchise-altering acquisition that a player like Crosby would represent.
For weeks, the belief around the league was that Crosby was headed to Baltimore. With that deal now off the table, teams that previously believed they were out of the running may now reconsider their options.
The Bears appear to be one of those teams.
Raiders Holding Firm on Massive Trade Price
The biggest obstacle for any potential suitor remains Las Vegas’ asking price.
According to Russini’s report, the Las Vegas Raiders are still believed to be seeking two first-round picks in exchange for Crosby. This is the exact same package that Baltimore had been prepared to send before the deal fell apart.
That type of compensation reflects Crosby’s value across the league. The five-time Pro Bowler has established himself as one of the NFL’s most disruptive pass rushers. He has consistently ranked among the league leaders in pressures and sacks.
For the Bears, the potential upside is obvious. If Ryan Poles were to pull the trigger, it would signal the Bears are going “all in.”
However, whether the Bears are willing to pay the Raiders’ asking price remains to be seen.
