The Chicago Bears may have a new injury to worry about with wide receiver DJ Moore ahead of their wild-card playoff game with the Green Bay Packers.
The Bears officially added Moore to the injury report with a knee injury on Tuesday, January 6, estimating him as a limited participant even though they did not practice.
Moore is the Bears’ most experienced wide receiver, which would make losing him for their playoff game against the Packers a major blow, but it is likely not worth fretting about his limited participation — or estimated participation — so early on in the week.
Moore played all 17 games in the regular season for the Bears and toughed through a few injuries throughout the 11-6 campaign, including a groin injury in October that landed him in the hospital after their Week 6 win over the Washington Commanders. He will also have two more real practice days to make sure his knee is ready to go.
Even still, Moore’s injured knee gives the Bears another potential wrinkle to consider as they ready to host the Packers at Soldier Field for the second time since December 20.
The Bears will kick off against the Packers at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, January 10.
Rome Odunze, Jahdae Walker Also on Injury Report
Moore picking up a new knee injury is noteworthy, but he is not the only member of the Bears’ receiving corps on the injury report ahead of their playoff game with the Packers.
The Bears also estimated that wide receivers Rome Odunze (foot) and Jahdae Walker (illness) would have each started the week with practice limitations. In Walker’s case, he would not have participated in the day’s practice had the Bears actually held one.
Odunze’s presence on the injury report is not surprising. He missed the final five games of the regular season with a stress fracture in his foot and has been sitting out in hopes of it healing in time for him to return to the lineup for the playoffs. While he only just resumed practicing on January 2, expectations are that he will play against the Packers.
Meanwhile, Walker is the latest Bear to come down with an illness, as a bug seems to have been going around their locker room over the past few weeks. Cornerback Nick McCloud and wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus each sat out Week 17’s game against the San Francisco 49ers because of illnesses, but others have overcome theirs and played.
Even if Walker misses more practice time this week, the Bears could take advantage of their nighttime slot and give him up until roughly an hour before game time to decide on his playing status against the Packers.
DJ Moore Delivered in Bears’ OT Win Over Packers
Moore got to be one of the heroes for the Bears the last time they played the Packers, when they rallied from a 16-6 deficit late in the fourth quarter and won in overtime.
With Odunze and rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III both out, the Bears leaned more heavily on the veteran Moore, who caught five of his seven targets for a season-high 97 receiving yards. He also pulled down one of those targets in overtime for a 46-yard, game-winning touchdown that quarterback Caleb Williams put on him perfectly.
While the Bears improved as an offense and a team in 2025, Moore had the quietest season of his eight-year career, finishing with 50 receptions for 682 yards — both career lows — in his first season in Ben Johnson’s spread-the-love system. Seven different Bears finished with at least 30 catches, while Moore was one of four pass-catchers who had at least 600 receiving yards, along with Burden, Odunze and Colston Loveland.
Perhaps more important to Moore, though, 2025 will be the first season in which he will make an appearance in the playoffs — so long as his knee does not hold him out.
