The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed Chicago Bears free-agent safety Jaquan Brisker to a one-year, $5.5 million deal, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport announced.

The #Steelers are signing former #Bears S Jaquan Brisker to a 1-year, $5.5M deal, per me and @MikeGarafolo in a deal done by @AndreOdom and @aj__stevens.”

“A big-time addition for the #Steelers defense,” Rapoport added.

Brisker was one of the most passionate players the Bears had on defense, but had an unfortunate history of concussions while playing in Chicago.
He was Ryan Poles’ second-ever draft pick back in the 2nd round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and racked up 342 total tackles, seven sacks, four forced fumbles, and four interceptions in 52 career games with the Bears.

Steelers Sign Bears Safety Jaquan Brisker to One-Year Deal

It’s puzzling why the Bears did not re-sign Brisker if his price tag was just $5.5 million.

Even with Poles signing Seattle Seahawks safety Coby Bryant to a three-year, $40 million deal, the Bears still had the cap space to bring back Brisker for a one-year, $5.5 million deal.

In fact, it’s crazy how the Bears did not bring back one of Kevin Byard, who signed a one-year, $9M deal with the New England Patriots, Nahshon Wight, who signed a one-year, $5.5M deal with the New York Jets, or CJ Gardner-Johnson, who signed a one-year, $6M deal with the Buffalo Bills. At this point, it looks like the Bears will look to pair Bryant with a rookie safety during the NFL Draft.

It’s clear Chicago has a lot of trust in Bears’ defensive backs coach Al Harris.

After the season, Brisker made sure to send love to his teammates, coaches, and the city of Chicago, saying, “These teammates, you know, we’re all not gonna be here again. Team’s gonna look different. It’s sad because this was a special group. I really care about my teammates and my coaches and things like that. I care about this city, and who knows what’s next.”

Now, Brisker returns to Pittsburgh, where he grew up, and reunites with Steelers’ corner Joey Porter Jr., his former college teammate from Penn State.

Bears Fans Show Love to Brisker

Brisker, otherwise known as Quanny B, was one of the more active Bears players on social media who would regularly interact with fans and quickly became a fan-favorite.

He posted an  👿 emoji on X after news broke that he signed with the Steelers, and Bears fans were quick to show their appreciation for his four seasons in Chicago.

“Gonna miss ya, go kill it in Pittsburgh!” @SoBackSports

“Heart is broken over this one…we’re going to miss you so much. You’re forever a bear to us.” @freddietarian

“Best of luck Quanny thank you for everything” @Morakev1794

“Gonna miss you Brisk! @downbadbears

Now, both the Bears and Brisker part ways as Chicago looks to overhaul its defensive backfield.
