Once again, Maxx Crosby has spoken glowingly about Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. And once again, Crosby’s comments have sent Bears Nation into a tizzy in the hopes their favorite team might trade for the superstar defensive end.
The Bears need to improve their pass rush next season, and a trade for the Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro would certainly accomplish that.
Based on his comments, it seems Crosby wouldn’t mind if Williams was his QB. On the January 20 episode of his podcast “The Rush With Maxx Crosby,” the veteran DE marveled at the Bears’ QB’s ability to make plays, saving some very high praise for Williams’ ridiculous late-game touchdown pass against the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round.
With Chicago trailing 17-10 and less than 30 seconds remaining in the game, the Bears faced a fourth-and-4 at the Rams’ 14-yard line. Under heavy pressure that forced him to retreat toward his own 40, Williams backpedaled and heaved a pass that traveled over 50 yards in the air before tight end Cole Kmet snagged it in the end zone to tie the game at 17-17 and force overtime.
Maxx Crosby’s Latest Comments on Bears QB Caleb Williams Fuel Trade Rumors Again
It’s fair to say that TD pass impressed Crosby, big time.
“Nuts. I still can’t get over that throw,” Crosby said about the play. “That was one of the craziest — I couldn’t believe my eyes, bro. I was sitting there in silence like, what the (expletive)? When he started sprinting directly back, I’m like, it’s over. And this (expletive) threw it from the 40 over the DBs. That was one of the craziest plays I’ve seen, literally ever.”
Naturally, Bears fans enjoyed hearing such high praise about their QB — especially from a player who is a potential trade candidate after a rough 2025 season with the Raiders.
“Maxx Crosby wants to be a Bear so badly,” one fan wrote on X.
“Guess what, you can see Caleb do that stuff at practice everyday if you’d like,” another fan added.
Others just threw the obligatory Crosby-in-a-Bears-uniform meme out there:
Crosby played through a lingering knee issue last year and was placed on injured reserve in late December, ending his season a tad early. He underwent successful knee surgery in the offseason and has publicly stated he’s looking to return to action in the summer of 2026.
That said, he made it clear he wasn’t happy with how the Raiders handled his injury.
Crosby Had Another Telling Comment About Chicago Sports

GettyLas Vegas Raiders pass rusher Maxx Crosby has made his admiration for Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears known. Is a future trade in the cards?
In 2025, Crosby finished with 10 sacks, 73 tackles (28 for loss), 20 QB hits, two forced fumbles, six passes defensed and his first career interception — which was off the arm of Williams Week 4.
After that game, Crosby gave Williams his flowers.
“He’s a competitor, bro,” Crosby said on his pod several days after that game (h/t Zack Pearson of 247 Sports). “I’ll give it to him. He didn’t back down; he kept getting back up and kept trying to make plays. Yeah, he definitely earned my respect. He’s a competitor. He’s hard to tackle, he makes plays happen, and he’s trying to will his team to win.”
Crosby didn’t stop with praise for Williams, though. Jim Cornelison sang the national anthem ahead of the Bears-Rams playoff game, and Crosby also noted he was impressed with the passion Bears fans showed during the performance, as many sang along.
“That national anthem, I know some might think that was disrespectful to yelling or whatever during it. Dude — if Chicago sports are like that, I want them involved in pretty much everything, you know what I mean?” he added.
Any trade for Crosby would require significant draft compensation, and Bears GM Ryan Poles didn’t do much to refute the idea of a trade for the top-tier DE when he was asked about it at the team’s season-ending presser. Will all this smoke turn into a fire when the new league year begins? Bears fans are sure hoping so. Stay tuned.
