Did Tom Brady just attempt to recruit Nahshon Wright to the Las Vegas Raiders?
The future Hall of Fame quarterback spoke so glowingly about Wright in a recent segment on FOX Sports that some analysts came to that conclusion.
After a breakout 2025 campaign with the Chicago Bears in which Wright finished with five interceptions, 11 passes defended, two forced fumbles and a defensive score, Brady dubbed the veteran cornerback his “LFG Best Value Player” of the 2025 season.
But here’s the potential conflict: Brady is no longer just a broadcaster. He is also a minority owner of the Raiders. Considering the league’s tampering rules are designed to prevent teams and team officials from influencing players under contract or future free agents, his comments about Wright definitely raised the eyebrows of a few Bears analysts.
Did Tom Brady Influence or Tamper With Nahshon Wright’s Pending Free Agency?

Tom Brady’s recent comments about Chicago Bears free agent CB Nahshon Wright have some wondering where the tampering lines are.
Here’s what Brady said about Wrigh when explaining the CB’s value:
He had a tremendous season. He was an absolute turnover machine. The Bears, they didn’t do a great job between the 20s, OK, the ball was moved a lot. But when it came down to (forcing turnovers), they were better than every team in the league. And he was a huge reason why. Intercepting passes, strip sacks, fumbles, fumble recoveries. What he did on a vet minimum contract, or something like $1.1 (million), I don’t know — But what I saw with my eye test, he is the value player of the year. Congratulations. You’ve earned yourself quite a contract in the future. And shout out Nashon Wright’s agent. You’re going to do pretty well, too.
It’s that last bit that seemed to blur a few lines.
On the February 2 episode of “The Mully & Haugh Show,” co-hosts Mike Mulligan and David Haugh discussed Brady’s comments, and they had a pretty strong take.
“Tom is recruiting Nashon Wright,” Mulligan said, adding:
“I’m not ripping Brady, but when I saw that, it’s great, Tom, that you have a value chart, you’re giving away awards. Here’s the problem: You’re an NFL owner. He owns a part of a team. You’ve seen him with the headphones on and he’s talking about an offensive coordinator, who everyone knows is going to be hired the minute the Super Bowl is over as his head coach. You can’t, you can’t get past that.”
“I would report the Las Vegas Raiders for tampering,” Haugh said. “Going public and saying that Nahshon Wright is going to get paid — he’s an owner who’s (potentially) going to pay him.”
The NFL’s anti-tampering policy is fairly straightforward: Teams are not supposed to make public or private efforts to recruit players before the proper window opens. Even praise can be scrutinized when it comes from someone with authority or ownership ties.
Brady didn’t mention the Raiders when he spoke about Wright, nor did he suggest a potential destination. On the surface, it was just an analysis of a player who had a heck of a year.
That said, the league has to be cautious with Brady’s dual role. His voice carries weight. When he says a player has earned a big fat contract, it could absolutely influence Wright’s price tag.
There has been no indication the Bears will file a complaint with the league about Brady’s comments, but both Mully and Haugh think the team should at least consider it.
