The 2025 season was not what the Cincinnati Bengals expected. The previous two seasons had resulted in the Bengals narrowly missing the postseason after their slow starts were too much to overcome. This year started off differently. The Bengals won their first two games of the season, which marked the first time since 2018 the team had won its first two games. Unfortunately, they came at a cost. During that second win, quarterback Joe Burrow suffered a turf toe injury, which caused him to miss most of the season.
By the time Burrow returned, the Bengals had lost eight of nine games and were narrowly hanging on to their playoff chances. After a loss to the Ravens, the Bengals were mathematically knocked out of the postseason and Burrow made headlines with some interesting declarations. His comments about “not having fun” led trade speculation to grow and with the offseason in full force, speculation has not stopped.
Cincinnati Bengals Player Gives Strong Take on Joe Burrow
If Burrow were to hit the open market, there would be significant interest around the league. Even prior to Burrow joining the NFL, the Miami Dolphins tried to trade up for him as they offered Cincinnati a massive package prior to the draft. However, the Bengals have not wavered in their desire to have Joe Burrow as their franchise quarterback.
Now, Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown has commented on the speculation of a possible Burrow departure. Brown told CBS Sports, “Joe’s not going anywhere, I think that was totally blown out of proportion. It was definitely a good talking point for people. It gave the media a lot to talk about and probably made [Burrow’s] Twitter notifications go off, but Joe’s not going anywhere.”
Brown’s comments should provide some relief to Bengals fans who might have been concerned about losing their quarterback. Additionally, Bengals fans should be excited that Brown is seemingly heading toward an extension with the team. Brown said in an interview, “I would love to do something and be a part of this team, I don’t want to go anywhere else.”
In the 2025 season, Brown totaled over 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his career. He also set a new career-high with 437 receiving yards while matching his 2024 total of 11 touchdowns.
Bengals Announce Quarterback News
Despite the disappointing season, the news has been primarily positive for the Bengals coming out of the season. Now, the team announced that backup quarterback Joe Flacco has made the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career. Despite being a Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl MVP, the long-time Ravens quarterback had never made a Pro Bowl. After six starts with the Bengals in the 2025 season, Flacco is officially a Pro Bowler.
He will join wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins in the Pro Bowl. For Chase, it is his fifth consecutive Pro Bowl selection, while Higgins is also a first-time Pro Bowl selection. Higgins set a new career-high with 11 receiving touchdowns this year.
