The Medina County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people in connection with the burglary at Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders‘ home.
Three suspects allegedly broke into Sanders’ home on Nov. 16, and all three were arrested on Monday, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. According to The Akron Beacon Journal, the fourth suspect, who was the driver of the vehicle involved, has been positively identified, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
The alleged incident took place while Sanders and the Browns were playing a home game against the Baltimore Ravens. According to the report, surveillance cameras in the residence were able to capture video footage of the suspects moving around the residence.
The suspects wore masks and gloves and were in the house for around 12 minutes. Around $200,000 worth of items were stolen in the burglary.
Sanders Wasn’t Fazed by the Burglary
Following the news being made public of the burglary, Sanders spoke to the media and wasn’t fazed by the news.
Sanders said he wasn’t letting the news impact him as he was focused on starting for the Browns.
“Yeah, mentally and emotionally, I’m in a great place overall,” Sanders said back on Nov. 19. “In life, there’s always going to be adversity. Things aren’t always going to go as planned, but I would say, I’m prepared for everything.”
Sanders continued to double down that the burglary attempt wouldn’t faze him.
“I know this is a trending topic that my house got broken into, but I’m in a mental space now to where it’s not too much that can faze me, honestly, that’s going on,” Sanders said. By the way, none of my jewelry got took. So now it’s just caught slippin’. It happens. … In life, there’s always going to be adversity. Things aren’t always going to go as planned. I would say I’m prepared for everything.”
In his next game after the burglary, Sanders went 11-of-20 for 209 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in the win over the Las Vegas Raiders in his first NFL start.
Browns GM Won’t Commit to Sanders
Although Sanders showed flashes of being a solid starting quarterback in the NFL, the Browns aren’t committing to him as their starting quarterback.
After the season ended, Browns general manager Andrew Berry said Sanders played well.
“I think we saw a lot of progress with Shedeur this year. I think that’s both mentally, physically, playing the position,” Berry said. “He’s still very much a work in progress, like many rookie quarterbacks are, but I think we saw some really good things in terms of his play-making, his accuracy, his ability to extend plays with his feet.
However, Berry said the team will evaluate all options and won’t commit to Sanders.
“Now that all means that we’re gonna do out work on the quarterback market. It’s too important of a position and it’s something that has to be solidified,” Berry said. “I can’t sit here and tell you today whether the solution for the starter in 2026 is internal or external. It’s something that we’re going to work through over the next several weeks, and quite honestly, the new head coach will have a lot of input on that as well.”
