Cleveland Browns receiver Jerry Jeudy and Shedeur Sanders appear to have put their differences behind them.
Jeudy caught a 60-yard bomb from Sanders in the second quarter of Sunday’s Week 14 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. It was part of the most productive passing half of the season for the Browns. Jeudy had three catches for 76 yards with the score, just the second of the season for the Browns’ top receiver.
After hauling in the touchdown and flipping into the end zone, Jeudy took a knee and shared an embrace with Sanders.
“Cool moment for Shedeur Sanders and Jerry Jeudy after a heated sideline interaction last week. They move past it and connect for a TD,” ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi wrote on X.
Browns WR Jerry Jeudy Barked at Shedeur Sanders on Sideline
Sanders and Jeudy were in the headlines for the wrong reasons after losing to the San Francisco 49ers. The two were reviewing a play on the sideline and an animated Jeudy yelled “that’s wrong” multiple times at Sanders. The two were eventually separated by center Ethan Pocic.
Jeudy addressed the incident during the week, saying he spoke with Sanders about it.
“We spoke about it. We good,” Jeudy said with his arms crossed. “It was about a play. This is an emotional sport. Things like that happen in football.”
Jeudy said if he could go back, he would not have had the confrontation in public.
“I probably would have talked off-camera. That part I would have done differently. Of course, I’m going to speak my mind and say what I see out there. It’s football. Me and Shedeur are good. Stuff like that happens,” Jeudy said before talking aim at the media. “Y’all are going to make it different from what it is, because you’re the media. That’s what you all feed off — negativity. We move on from it. I live in real life. What happens in this locker room, this real. Not what’s going on with social media.”
Shedeur Sanders Seeking Trust With Browns Receivers
Sanders didn’t see a single snap with the starting offense before taking over at halftime of the Week 11 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, and he’s acknowledged that building chemistry with his receivers remains a work in progress.
“Overall, I would say just being able to get on the same page and trust,” Sanders said. “The hardest thing in this game and right now is having trust, having trust in everybody. Certain movements, certain ways we make eye contact, like certain things is so detailed and that’s how I play very comfortably. … That’s how I get in my comfort zone. That’s how I get in my bag, that’s how I’m able to do that.”
The Browns are taking a long look at Sanders, using the remainder of the season to evaluate whether he can be a true long-term solution under center. With two first-round picks in the upcoming draft, Cleveland has the flexibility to pursue another quarterback if it feels necessary. But a strong close to the year from Sanders could change that trajectory.
