NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported the Cleveland Browns signed offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins to a 2-year, $24 million contract.

The Cleveland Browns made another move to help solidify their offensive line Tuesday. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the Browns are signing veteran interior offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins.

The Browns and Jenkins agreed to a 2-year, $24 million contract. Pelissero also reported the deal will include $20 million guaranteed.

The Browns agreed to terms with Jenkins a day after the Green Bay Packers released the interior lineman. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported Tuesday that Jenkins’s release came with a failed-physical designation.

In seven seasons with the Packers, Jenkins played several different positions along the offensive line. Last season, he primarily switched to center, but that transition didn’t go particularly well.

Jenkins then suffered a lower-leg injury during Week 10.

But while playing guard, Jenkins made the Pro Bowl twice early in his career during the 2020 and 2022 campaigns.

Browns Signing Guard Elgton Jenkins: Report

With Jenkins, Cleveland adds another veteran lineman to fix the offensive line.

Since Week 3 of his rookie 2019 campaign, Jenkins has started every game where he’s dressed. Overall, he started 94 games with the Packers.

Most of his offensive snaps were at left guard. But he also made starts at right tackle and center. In all nine of his starts during 2025, Jenkins was at center.

His 2025 season ended about midway through the way because of a fibula fracture.

Jenkins still isn’t completely healthy. That was evident in his failed physical at the very end of his Packers tenure.

But clearly, the Browns felt comfortable enough with the lineman’s health to offer him $20 million guaranteed.

Before 2025, there was only one other season in Jenkins’s career where he didn’t play at least 15 games. From 2022-24, he missed just four regular season contests.

Browns Offensive Line Additions During 2026 NFL Free Agency

Jenkins is the second offensive lineman the Browns have added during the league’s legal tampering period. Before Jenkins, Cleveland signed former Los Angeles Chargers guard Zion Johnson.

Johnson’s deal was a 3-year, $49.5 million contract.

Cleveland also brought back guard Teven Jenkins on Tuesday. Teven spent his first season with the Browns last year, making four starts.

Before the legal tampering period began, the Browns acquired veteran offensive lineman Tytus Howard as well. Cleveland acquired him from the Houston Texans for a fifth-round pick and then signed Howard to a 3-year, $63 million extension.

Pundits expect Howard to play right tackle in Cleveland. Similar to Jenkins, he made 93 starts with his former team.

The Browns have made these offensive line additions with veterans Wyatt Teller, Cam Robinson and Ethan Pocic leaving in unrestricted free agency. Joel Bitonio could be gone too. The 12-year veteran and seven-time Pro Bowler is weighing retirement.

The transformation upfront in Cleveland is an effort for the team’s offense to hit the ground running under new first-year head coach Todd Monken.

George Warhop followed Monken from the Baltimore Ravens to become the Browns offensive line coach. Warhop, though, previously served as Browns offensive line coach from 2009-13.

Warhop has coached offensive lines in the NFL since 1996. Over the past 30 years, Warhop has made stops with the then St. Louis Rams, Arizona Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Houston Texans, in addition to the Browns and Ravens.
