The Dallas Cowboys‘ 2026 training camp is getting tougher by the day because this roster looks so good.

Dallas dominated its second preseason game, blowing out the Arizona Cardinals 34-13. The story of the game was how good quarterback Joe Milton III was, throwing for 179 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for another score.

Overall, their offense was clicking on all cylinders. This is a big reason the Cowboys are now facing a real problem, but they still have to make a tough decision at a position that is looking deeper than expected.

Dallas Cowboys Must Decide on Deep Position Group

The Athletic Cowboys reporter Jon Machota examined the position groups on the team where battles are underway. Machota took a closer look at the wide receivers and how Camden Brown and Jonathan Mingo are making it tough on them.

“One reason the Cowboys might not be able to keep three quarterbacks is because they could have to keep six wide receivers. CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Ryan Flournoy and KaVontae Turpin are roster locks. The fifth spot is coming down to Mingo, a veteran, and undrafted rookie Camden Brown. Brown has been more impressive, making highlight plays just about every day in practice and in both preseason games. But Mingo has also been playing well. This could be one of Dallas’ most difficult roster decisions.”

Brown led the Cowboys in yards with 77 on 2 catches, with 70 of those yards coming from one reception. Mingo had 2 receptions for 63 yards and scored a touchdown on a 53-yard completion.

Dallas Cowboys Need Good Luck to Figure Out What to Do at WR

Mingo and Brown have both played well in the preseason. Brown, though, has surprised everyone, and he has made plays every day in training camp and the preseason. His two touchdowns in the win over the Seattle Seahawks really put him on the map.

Dallas faces a situation where it might not have a choice but to keep Mingo and Brown. If they were waived at the end of training camp, there’s no way they would make it through waivers, as some team will pick one or the other up.

The Cowboys would be better off keeping six wide receivers on the roster and figuring out how to make it work. Brown and Mingo are both talented deep threat pass catchers who can make big plays happen.

If there is any problem the Cowboys would like to deal with, it is no doubt this. Dallas’ offense was explosive in 2025, but having Mingo and Brown makes it even more dangerous.

Still, a big decision is coming in the next week about what to do at wide receiver. They can’t screw this up, given how good Brown and Mingo are.
