The Dallas Cowboys weren’t able to carry the momentum from their Week 2 victory over the New York Giants into Week 3, as they suffered a 31-14 defeat at the hands of the Chicago Bears on Sunday. With the loss, the Cowboys have just a 1-2 record now, but Jerry Jones isn’t pressing the panic button just yet.
Through three games, Dallas appears to be a team with several major holes, especially now that CeeDee Lamb could be set to miss time with an ankle injury. And despite that, Jones isn’t worried at all, as he issued a confident statement on the Cowboys‘ playoff chances in the wake of their most recent defeat.
Jerry Jones’ Confident Cowboys Playoff Message
After getting lit up by the Giants in Week 2, the Bears quickly proved that the Cowboys‘ defensive struggles were real. While Dallas managed to score a pair of touchdowns in the first half, it didn’t really matter because Caleb Williams and the rest of Chicago’s offense were getting whatever they wanted, as they scored 24 points before the break.
Another long touchdown drive in the third quarter would be all the Bears needed to salt this game away, as the Cowboys‘ offense had trouble moving the ball consistently without Lamb on the field. When all was said and done, an incredibly disappointing defeat was in the books, and it remains to be seen whether Dallas can fix their roster on the fly this season.
Ever since Jones traded Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers right before Week 1, he’s been facing quite a bit of criticism, and this loss isn’t going to change things. He still has full faith in his team and their playoff chances, though, but he was quick to admit after this loss that the defense needs to get its act together, and fast.
Yes, and that’s because you saw (Dak Prescott) out there today, and you saw what I think we’re capable of doing in the running game and that type of deal, so yes, I fully do. As we evolve towards the playoffs, we’ve got to get better defensively,” Jones said when speaking to reporters on Sunday.
Cowboys Turn the Page to Week 4 Matchup vs. Packers

The only thing the Cowboys can do right now is move forward and work on getting better. They have a lot working against them for the time being, though. The front seven still hasn’t figured out how to replace the absence of Parsons on defense, and the secondary is littered with injuries. Getting healthy would certainly help, but that’s not the only reason Dallas is losing games.
Things aren’t going to get easier for them anytime soon, as they draw a tough Week 4 matchup against the Green Bay Packers, although it is worth noting the Packers suffered a shocking loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 3. With this game set to be broadcast on Sunday Night Football, all eyes will be on the Cowboys to see if they can bounce back from this crushing loss to the Bears, because if they can’t, they could be in serious trouble.
