In recent years, NFL teams releasing their schedules has become an increasingly high stakes game to see who is going to make the best schedule release video — and each year somebody tries to push the envelope a little bit.
This year, one of those teams was the Los Angeles Chargers.
In the Chargers’ video, they took a video-game approach — and had a Halo-like character shoot a laser beam through Broncos quarterback Bo Nix’s ankle.
It’s a version of Nix, anyway, as another Halo-like character in Broncos colors.
The point is — message received. Nix fractured his ankle in an overtime win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round and has had to have 2 surgeries to repair the damage.
The NFL released regular-season schedules for all 32 of its teams on Thursday.
“The Chargers blew up Bo Nix’s ankle in their schedule release video,” DNVR’s Zac Stevens wrote on his official X account on Thursday.
“This has to be crossing a line,” 9News Denver’s Mike Klis wrote on his official X account.
Perhaps there is a bit of jealousy on the part of the Chargers, who only have 3 primetime games in 2026 — compared to 5 primetime games for the Broncos, who went 14-3 in 2025, won the AFC West Division title, and earned the No. 1 seed in the AFC Playoffs.
Social Media Reacts to Chargers Dissing Nix
Social media turned on its head when the Chargers video started to go viral — specifically at the diss toward Nix and the Broncos.
“I will say, the social media team for the Chargers always wins the schedule release video battle,” Sleeper Broncos wrote on its official X account. “Even tho it’s a low blow, this was funny with Bo Nix and his ankle If their team was anything like their social media team, maybe they would win an SB or even a playoff game…”
“Pathetic jab at Bo Nix’s ankle,” Broncos fan Jonathan Major wrote on X. “Stay classy Chargers.”
“The Bo Nix ankle grenade is out of pocket lol,” Broncos BC wrote on X.
“Did Bo Nix dirty,” X user Kane is in the Building wrote.
Broncos Face Grueling 1st 6 Weeks
The Broncos are facing a gauntlet when it comes to the 1st 6 weeks of the 2026 regular season after the NFL released schedules for all 32 teams on Thursday.
The Broncos open the season at the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football, then face 5 consecutive playoff teams, capped by hosting the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in Week 6.
“If you consider the Chiefs a playoff team, then the Broncos are the first team in NFL history to have their first 6 games of the season against playoff teams from the year before,” DNVR’s Zac Stevens wrote on his official X account on Thursday. “Unbelievably tough start for Denver.”
