Bo Nix has a lengthy road to recovery ahead of him still, but the Denver Broncos quarterback is making the best of an unfortunate situation.

Nix broke a bone in his ankle while scrambling during the AFC Divisional Playoffs against the Buffalo Bills. He is expected to be fully healed in time for training camp. In the meantime, Nix has had to adjust to his plight.

According to his wife, Izzy Nix, he is.

Nix shared a message after his injury, underscoring how devastating the injury was, including the timing, which sidelined him for the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots and ended his season even if the Broncos advanced.

Izzy Nix shared a video of her husband doing something routine in a rather unconventional way.

“Perks of the scooter [laughing and mailbox emojis],” Izzy Nix captioned a video on her Instagram story.

Nix was not his typical efficient self, but he finished with 279 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception against the Bills, adding 29 yards on the ground for good measure. There has been a flood of opinions about whether the Broncos would be playing the Super Bowl with Nix.

His message after the injury was fitting in light of reactions to Denver’s loss in the AFCCG.

“What started as one of the most exciting games I’ve ever been a part of ended with some of the most devastating football news I’ve ever received. This is not how I imagined my season would come to an end, but our season has been defined by overcoming adversity and responding to it,” Nix said on Instagram in January after his injury.

“God never says oops, and he is always good. He has big plans for this team. We’re not finished, as a matter of fact we’re just getting started. We’re just going to keep climbing higher.”

Broncos head coach Sean Payton noted that Nix was already working towards his return at the team facilities during his season-ending presser, joking that the second-year QB was “doing scooter laps.”

Bo Nix Gets Good News

Nix has the faith of the Broncos coaching staff and his teammates, and he can rest assured that a critical part of the equation is going to be in place next season, too.

Broncos QB coach Davis Webb was a hot name on the coordinator and head coaching circuit.

He ultimately returned to Denver with the added role of offensive coordinator. Nix said he would have relished an opportunity to face Webb, who was a candidate for the Las Vegas Raiders, twice a season. However, it is also clear how much Nix values Webb.

“Davis is a tremendous coach,” Nix said, per Sleeper Broncos on February 2. “I think highly of him. I know he’s a really good football coach.”

The Broncos promoted quality control coach Logan Kilgore to QB coach.

Nix and the offense should also benefit from the Broncos retaining defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. He has taken his group to new heights. They have led the NFL in sacks in back-to-back seasons. That helps get the ball back for Nix and the Broncos’ offense.
