Just when you think you have all the information you need on the recovery timeline for injured Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix … think again. .
Denver head coach Sean Payton stirred things back up again on Saturday at the Broncos’ rookie minicamp when he gave a somewhat surprising update on Nix’s recovery from a fractured ankle suffered in an AFC Divisional Round win over the Buffalo Bills — an injury that required multiple surgeries.
Nix suffered his injury on January 17 on one of the final plays in overtime as he set up a game-winning field goal for the Broncos, then watched from the suite level as his team lost 10-7 to the New England Patriots 1 week later in the AFC Championship Game.
While Nix had surgery within days of his injury, he was initially projected to miss just 6 weeks. On April 29, reports surfaced that Nix had a follow-up surgery that would likely keep him out until training camp in July.
According to Payton, that might not be the case.
Bo Nix Might Be Available Before Training Camp
“A good chance Bo Nix will be on the field in June per Sean Payton,” Bleacher Report’s James Palmer wrote on his official X account. “The follow up (procedure) was not a surprise. He will be good to go well ahead of training camp. Sean Payton said we’ll see Nix on the field in a few weeks. They’ll hold him back some this spring, but everything is pointing toward Nix being full good well before training camp.”
“Sean Payton is VERY confident in Bo Nix’s rehab and ability to be back by potentially OTAs, but certainly for training camp,” DNVR’s Zac Stevens wrote on his official X account.
“Sean Payton said Bo Nix is doing great,” 9News Denver’s Mike Klis wrote on his official X account. “Follow-up procedure not a surprise. See him do some stuff in OTAs and minicamp in June but will hold him back. Full go before training camp.”
