Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph was absent for the final 11 games of the 2025 NFL season after suffering a knee injury, and has since been undergoing specialized knee treatments

However, he’s having himself a good time during the offseason and recently made an appearance in Ann Arbor during a recent University of Michigan men’s basketball game at Crisler Center.

Joseph was seen tossing souvenir t-shirts into the crowd during a timeout in the second half of the game, much to the delight of the fans in attendance.

Let’s hope that Joseph is able to continue his physical rehabilitation and put himself back in a position where he’s needed most for the Lions on the field for next season.

The Detroit Lions Are Working Kerby Joseph Back From Injury

Last month, Lions head coach Dan Campbell indicated that the club is slowly working him back and that they anticipate having a clearer idea of a return timeline in a month or so.

“We’ve been treating him, he’s done a few things. I would say we’re in the position now to where we’re slowly working him back,” Campbell said while at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine. “What is this gonna look like? How is it going to feel? Call it a month from now, maybe a month and a half, and then I think we’ll have a lot better idea. Can we get it stable enough? Can we get enough strength? It’s all of those things.”

However, it sounded as though Campbell said that the ultimate outlook is that the Lions will have to manage the injury instead of ultimately curing it.

“I don’t think it’s necessarily going away, but I think you do the best you can to manage it,” Campbell said during the season. “It’s like a lot of these guys, you know that they’ve got some injuries here or dealing with cartilage or meniscus or anything like that, you do your best to manage it. There’ll always be a little wear and tear, it’s just how bad is it.”

Lions GM Brad Holmes Is In Regular Communication With The Medical Staff

While discussing the injuries to Joseph and Brian Branch, who tore his Achilles during a win over the Dallas Cowboys, Lions general manager Brad Holmes said both players are working hard to make an eventual return to the football field for next season.

“They’re both doing everything they can to get as healthy as possible. We haven’t put a hard timeline or deadline, but we’ve been in regular communication with our medical staff,” Holmes explained. “Our medical staff has been in regular communication with the player, obviously working with them. So, I know that they’re on track to get as healthy as possible. But I think in, like, another month or so, then we’ll obviously know a lot more.”

Joseph has been with the Lions since they selected him in the third round (97th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Illinois, where he was Second-Team All-American in 2021.

Eventually, he would earn First-Team All-Pro honors for the 2024 NFL season with the Lions.
