The Lions are being urged to sign an edge rusher from the Bills.

Now that the Detroit Lions are in offseason mode, general manager Brad Holmes is assessing his options of how to better his club to get them over the hump and to move them closer toward what would be their first elusive Super Bowl appearance.

The Lions, who need pass rush help, have been listed as a team to watch as a potential landing spot for defensive end Joey Bosa, who played this most recent season with the Buffalo Bills.

Citing Detroit’s lack of salary cap flexibility, CBS Sports writer Jared Dubin named the Lions as an ideal destination for Bosa, who is coming off a one-year, $12.6 million contract with the Buffalo Bills.

“The Lions always need pass rush help across from Aidan Hutchinson,” Jared Dubin wrote. “They’re not going to have much in the way of cap space this offseason, so they’re going to have to shop in the bargain bin, and we’ve seen that Bosa can do decent work in a rotational role on a top team.”

Could The Detroit Lions Sign Joey Bosa From The Buffalo Bills?

The Lions could be in prime position to snatch Bosa on the free agent market, as SI.com’s Alex Brasky predicted that the Bills would cut ties with him.

“Bosa’s five sacks were second on the team this season, while his quarterback pressure rate was third among Bills defensive linemen,” Brasky wrote. “But that’s not saying much, as the Bills struggled to get opposing quarterbacks on the ground all year. He didn’t record a single sack over the past five weeks of the regular season and playoffs and was also a liability against the run.”

“The 10-year-pro is set to enter his age-31 season and appears to be just about finished as a top-tier pass rusher. If you can get him back on a bargain, it would be a consideration. But otherwise, one year was enough of Bosa in Buffalo,” Brasky continued.

Despite his later season struggles, Bosa still managed to accumulate 29 tackles with five forced fumbles.
