U.S. President Donald Trump made history last year, becoming the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl when he showed up to watch the Philadelphia Eagles dominate the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

Trump was invited to the event as a special guest of New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson.

Given the assassination attempt on his life in July 2024 in Pennsylvania, Secret Service was deployed days before the Super Bowl to ensure appropriate security measures were in place for Trump’s arrival.

“Extensive planning and coordination have been in place to ensure the safety of all attendees, players, and staff,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told the Associated Press before the game. “Security measures have been further enhanced this year, given that this will be the first time a sitting President of the United States will attend the event.”

Trump’s presence caused quite the commotion last year, but will the 45th and 47th President be at Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8 in Santa Clara, California to watch the New England Patriots face the winner of the Seattle Seahawks-Los Angeles Rams NFC Championship Game?

In an exclusive interview with the New York Post, Trump confirmed he won’t be at this year’s Super Bowl.

“It’s just too far away,” Trump told the New York Post. “I would. I’ve [gotten] great hands [at] the Super Bowl. They like me. I would go if, you know, it was a little bit shorter.”

The trip from the District of Columbia to California spans 2,800-plus miles and registers between 6 and 7 hours by flight.

Trump also disclosed he’s not particularly thrilled with the NFL’s choice of halftime performer, Bad Bunny, or opening ceremony performer, Green Day — both of whom have been critical of Trump in the past.

“I’m anti-them,” Trump stated. “I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.”

Trump Caused Controversy at Super Bowl LIX

An always polarizing figure, Trump stirred the pot a bit during last year’s Super Bowl.

It’s been well-documented that Trump doesn’t particularly like pop star Taylor Swift, the fiancée of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce who also attended the Super Bowl in person to support the Pro Bowl pass-catcher.

Swift was booed mercilessly by Eagles fans when she was showed on the Jumbotron — something Trump reveled in after the game.

“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift,” Trump wrote on Truth Social after the Super Bowl. “She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”

Trump didn’t stop there, however.

During the Eagles’ White House visit, Trump took the opportunity to throw another jab at Swift and the Chiefs.

“I was there, I watched in person,” Trump proudly stated. “I was there along with Taylor Swift. How did that work out? How did that one work out?”

Trump’s presence was also reportedly the reason Swift didn’t sit with Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs star QB Patrick Mahomes.

Brittany has been supportive of Trump in the past, and she was allegedly warned by those in her inner circle it would be best to avoid being seen with Swift while Trump was in attendance.
