The Green Bay Packers made a strategic decision to rest their key players during their dead-rubber bout against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18.
The Packers lost 16-3, and their record went down to 9-7-1, but the benefit was kept in ensuring the core nucleus of the team remains healthy for the Wild Card round matchup this coming Saturday night at division-rivals, the Chicago Bears.
And that justification has, unfortunately, been very much vindicated on Wednesday, when the Packers saw versatile cornerback and receiver, Bo Melton, be placed on injured reserve with a knee injury sustained in the final regular season game.
“Matt LaFleur says Bo Melton is going on IR because of the knee injury he suffered in Minnesota. Calls Melton a “Swiss army knife.” Has played a big role on special teams this season and contributed periodically on offense. Not an ACL, but enough to land on IR.” The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman wrote in an X post on Wednesday morning.
Melton has played in 16 games this season, with 1 start – managing 107 yards receiving and 1 touchdown in the process.
